About this scheme

Our Business Administration Apprenticeship is your opportunity to gain the confidence and experience you need to get a real head start. Whether you’re interested in operations or customer service, this 12 – 18 month programme will develop you into a capable team member, with real skills and responsibilities to drive the rest of your career.

Throughout the course you’ll learn and use skills that will support you in a wide range of business and admin tasks. As you progress you’ll take on more responsibility, and by the time you’ve completed your apprenticeship you’ll be a trusted professional, ready to contribute to live projects and progress your career. If you like being well organised, analysing information and you have great communications skills, this programme is for you.

What you’ll cover

You’ll develop some of the most essential business skills around. From a technical perspective, your modules will cover the general principles of business, reporting and analysing data, and managing budgets, resources and change. Just as importantly though, you’ll receive plenty of support in improving your soft skills. That will include time planning and presenting at meetings, directly serving our customers and building relationships with people across the business.

We’ll give you everything you need to operate as a fully-fledged business professional.

Entry requirements

Our standard entry requirements apply: five GCSEs / Scottish National 5’s or equivalent at grades 4-9 / A-C (including Maths and English).

Data Management Apprentice

In this role, you’ll gain experience of working with mature business processes on varied, complex systems and you’ll develop your customer-facing skills. You will have a chance to work on varied, complex systems and excel in your attention to detail as you analyse requests from customers and enter accurate information into our database.

Durham

Referral Processing Apprentice

You’ll be part of our business team working with a major public sector client, to support the processing of customer claims from the general public. This role will give you first-hand exposure to a wide range of business administration duties. From ensuring online records are maintained, managing central mailbox queries and quality checking invoices, to amending any changes to ongoing claims, securely logging any issues and maintaining customer confidentiality at all times. You’ll support the creation of weekly update reports and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to ensure we’re always providing the best service, becoming a credit to any team.

Service Desk Support Apprentice

You’ll be part of the team supporting our busy IT service desks, working on key projects, providing timely communications, useful guidance and statistical information to ensure the smooth running of our UK service desks. Working alongside service desk project managers, you’ll analyse data to monitor the progress of key initiatives, ensuring targets and deadlines are met. Using a proactive approach, to manage multiple activities, you’ll produce status update reports and help to ensure that a consistent and standard approach is applied across all UK service desks.

Sales Operations Apprentice

In this role you’ll get a solid foundation in critical sales support and bid management skills. You’ll be involved in creating full suite of effective dashboard within sales systems and you’ll get exposure to digital bidding platforms which will give you a good understanding of the latest technology trends in the sector. With a degree of autonomy and ownership of your own destiny within the company, you’ll have direct exposure to our senior Directors and you’ll get a broad insight into all elements of sales, sales support and digital bidding.

Nottingham

Project Office Assistant

In this complex and challenging role, you will be supporting our solutions and services for the whole UK Operational Rail Market. This will include managing requests from customers, improving internal working practices and helping with financial administration. The role gives you a lot of space for development as you will be rotating across both development and support teams, which will aid your learning and give you exposure to different areas of the business.

Data Management Apprentice

In this role, you’ll gain experience of working with mature business processes on varied, complex systems and you’ll develop your customer-facing skills. You will have a chance to work on varied, complex systems and excel in your attention to detail as you analyse requests from customers and enter accurate information into our database.

Business Analyst Apprentice

In this complex and challenging role, you will be supporting our solutions and services for the whole UK Operational Rail Market. Rotating in both development and support teams, you’ll be perfectly placed to learn how different teams in a large organisation operate and interact. You’ll be supporting various business critical services, assessing and developing solutions to meet business needs and you’ll be involved in the assessment of customer driven change requests and the implementation of business processes, risk and control procedures.

Procurement Support Apprentice

As part of our busy Procurement team, you’ll manage purchase requests in line with established company processes. You’ll be responsible for contacting preferred suppliers to obtain quotes, raising Purchase Orders for confirmed orders and the subsequent management of these orders through to delivery from our suppliers. With a keen eye for detail, you’ll learn to manage multiple workstreams, and ensure effectively delivery of Procurement services to customers.
