Scottish Water and Atos win Institute of Water Innovation Award 2023

Scottish Water and Atos have been awarded the Institute of Water (Scottish Area) Innovation Award 2023 by Jon Rathjen, Deputy Director of the Water Policy and Climate Change Scottish Government and sponsor of the Scottish area award. The award recognizes Scottish Water’s and Atos (Eviden)’s successful collaboration in the delivery of unattended Robotics Process Automation (RPA).

In March 2023, the first ever implementation of RPA at Scottish Water to its Land Noticing process created the efficiency, capacity and productivity gains in its Capital Delivery processes required to help meet increasing demand for repairs and replacement of ageing assets.

With a further two processes now also successfully implemented using RPA, it’s estimated that together these three processes provide 1,200 days additional capacity a year by reducing manual tasks, process variability and waiting times.

Kathy Auld, Scottish Water Project Lead said, “This award is a result of real partnership and collaboration in action with Atos, which brought together a team comprised of a range of talents and skillsets all within an open and trusting environment. I’m very proud of the whole team.”

The Institute of Water is an organisation dedicated to supporting the careers of people in the UK water sector and the award is an example of the partnership between Atos and Scottish Water.
