A clear digital vision key to delivering UK’s Industrial Strategy, says Atos

London, 2 July 2019 – Releasing the potential of digital technologies with a clear strategy in order to unlock an era of renewed growth for Britain should be a major priority of the new Prime Minister and Cabinet, says Atos UK and Ireland.

Industry must work as partners to government, providing the technological innovation that will enable the UK to achieve its Industrial Strategy reveals Atos, a global leader in digital transformation, in its latest report.

Digital Vision for Digital Britain sets out how technology can deliver total digital transformation across both the public and private sectors and details how policy makers can navigate and respond to the evolving digital landscape and new era of opportunity in the UK.

Key recommendations include:

  • Creating a Citizen Hub that will allow UK residents to hold and manage their own personal data, allowing them to automatically access a range of public services via one connected hub, from registering for a new GP without even entering the surgery, to reviewing tax information or buying parking tickets.
  • Setting up an Enterprise Account – a digital one-stop shop that will encourage entrepreneurship by offering access to finance, mentoring and training.
  • Encouraging trade in a post-Brexit world by enabling the commerce of digital ideas and concepts.

Adrian Gregory, Senior Executive Vice President and CEO, Atos UK & Ireland said: “Digital transformation is integral to the UK’s social and economic future. It can help the effective design and delivery of services for organisations in the public and private sectors, as they respond to change in the UK. Tech for good isn’t a nice-to-have, it is essential to enable technological, social and economic progress for all.”

The paper was presented to parliamentarians at a recent reception in the House of Commons attended by the Conservative leadership candidates and around 100 other MPs.

Speaking at the House of Commons event on the release of the paper, Kulveer Ranger, SVP Strategy & Communications, Atos UK & Ireland said: “We call upon the incoming Prime Minister and his Cabinet to both recognise and be prepared for the exciting digital era where new technology will act as a driving force for both our country and economy to power progress for everyone in society. Harnessing this opportunity will prove crucial to the success of Britain on the global stage and Atos is committed to working in partnership to support the Government’ s objective of making the UK a world-leading digital economy that works for everyone.”

This is the latest paper in the Digital Vision programme which includes opinions and discussion around topics including Energy and Utilities, Mobility, AI, Financial Services, and Cyber Security.
