Atos secures award for transforming lifesaving cancer genome analysis

London, 30 April 2018

70 per cent reduction in processing times recognised at MCA Awards

Atos, a global leader in digital transformation, won gold at the Management Consulting Association Awards for pioneering work to speed up lifesaving genome analysis times.

Atos was tasked by Genomics England to deliver a faster diagnostic turnaround for its ground breaking programme, which uses a person’s DNA to understand how disease develops in order to deliver personalised treatments.

Establishing an efficient cancer genome analysis pipeline that gets recommendations back to clinicians quickly is critical to treating patients effectively. This reduced timeline, for the first time, enables clinicians to use the genome analysis in decision-making for cancer treatment.

The Atos team was able to reduce turnaround times from 9 months, to just 1-3 months, and also established a fast-track process that returns results in 14-17 days.

Toby Goldblatt, Atos SVP for digital services said: “Genomics England is a fantastic client doing really important and pioneering work for all our tomorrows. We have been delighted to support them in this for the past few years, and it is especially pleasing to receive this award by the consulting industry as a recognition of Atos’ work in this area.”

Genomics reinvents healthcare by creating a multi-disciplinary team of medical professionals and scientific, data and analytics experts to deliver integrated personal medicine.

The Atos team comprising Will Powell, Stuart Clarke, Charles Hope, Rafid Ali and Josh Ramsey were awarded Project of the Year in the Performance Improvement in the Public Sector category.
