Atos and ACCA team lend a helping hand at the Sunndach children’s respite home
Livingston, 3 October, 2014
Employees from leading international IT services company Atos have again devoted their time and fundraising abilities to brighten up the environment for children at a respite home in Livingston.
The company has a long standing relationship with NHS Lothian’s Sunndach Children’s Respite Home and recently members of the Atos team from the company’s Livingston office joined forces with staff from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) as part of a team building day and the company’s ongoing commitment to charitable work in the community.
The sixteen-strong team spent a total of 48 man hours between them, by helping to tidy the Sunndach garden in preparation for the winter, painted wooden planters in bright colours and donated a new garden table and chair set which will help encourage further use of the Home’s sensory garden.
Maureen Harrison, Chief Executive, The Sick Kids Friends Foundation, said: “Atos have been wonderful supporters of our work at Sunndach over the years and do so much to both raise funds and help to make the gardens a lovely place for the children and their families.
“The team gave up a lot of their time to tidy up the gardens again and that really helps everyone at the Home to get out into the open space and enjoy the area all year round.”
Aiden Honley, Client Executive for Public and Private Sectors in Atos said: “Atos has always had a strong track record of working with the local community on projects like this. Working at Sunndach allows our team to give something back and the rewards are there for all to see.
“We were also delighted to be in a position to welcome members of the ACCA team to help this time round and everyone involved was proud to support such a valuable service for the community. We hope that the children and staff at the Sunndach Children’s Respite Home enjoy the new table and chairs and the bright new planters in the garden.”
Colin Clive, Head of Transformation Delivery, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants said: ”We have heard a lot about the work the Atos team do at Sunndach and how much they enjoy working to support the children, staff and families at the Home, so we were delighted to be asked along to help on this occasion. The glorious weather also helped make it a day to remember for everyone involved in supporting such a worthy cause.”
Atos have raised over £3,000 this year for the Sick Kids Friends Foundation which supports the respite home. The Sick Kids Friends Foundation has been one of Atos’ chosen corporate charities since 2008 in which they have raised an impressive overall total of £25,690, and committed over 1650 volunteer man-hours too.
Atos in Scotland also supports other corporate charities – Maggies, Macmillan Cancer Support and the Yorkhill Children’s Charity.
