Atos team add a touch of colour to the speyside kiltwalk in Moray

Three members of the Atos team of business technologists at the company’s Forres development and innovation centre brought a splash of highland colour to work as part of their promotion to raise funds for charity at the recent Speyside Kiltwalk 2014.

Debbie Leonce, Emma Urquhart and Malc Bews extended their preparations for the event by wearing their team ‘Run MDC’ Kiltwalk uniform to the office for the day to encourage colleagues to support their fundraising efforts for Maggie’s.

The team accompanied by friends and family Caroline Derbyshire-Laing and Katie Bews completed the Kiltwalk on 14 September raising a fantastic £1300.

Atos Business Technologist, Malc Bews, said they were greatly encouraged by the reaction and support they had received from their colleagues in Forres and wider afield.

“We were delighted and proud to complete one of the best and difficult 26-mile walks in Scotland, which takes in the beautiful scenic Speyside Way from Buckie to Aberlour in a total team time of 11 hours. We canvassed support through local contacts and social media for this extremely worthwhile cause. The support we had from the team in the office has been fantastic,” he added.

“We were happy to take a bit of gentle ribbing from our colleagues for wearing the uniform to work in order to boost our fundraising total.”

The Atos team in Moray has a well-established fund raising relationship with their chosen corporate charity Maggie’s in the Highlands, and fully support the charity’s role in providing practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their families and friends.

Marianne McIntosh, Fundraising Organiser at Maggie’s Highlands said: “On behalf of everyone at the Centre, we would like to say a huge thank you to the team for taking part in the Kiltwalk. We are extremely grateful to Atos for the support they have shown for Maggie’s over the years and the money they have raised will help us in continuing to support people living with cancer and their friends and family.”

Owen O’Donohue, Head of the Atos Moray Development and Innovation Centre, said he was delighted to support the efforts of the ‘Run MDC’ team.

“Maggie’s is a charity that is close to the hearts of many of our colleagues in Forres, so we are all happy to add to the fundraising efforts being made by Debbie, Emma and Malc. They worked hard to get ready for the Speyside Kiltwalk and certainly added a touch of colour to the event. Well done to the team.”

Atos have been fundraising for Maggie’s since 2008.
