Deputy Prime Minister hails success for Atos as they are recognised as a Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer

Atos has been recognised in the prestigious Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers list which is compiled annually by the National Apprenticeship Service in partnership with City & Guilds and recognises excellence in businesses that employ apprentices.

The list was announced at the National Apprenticeship Awards, which took place during The Skills Show in Birmingham on 14 November. The Skills Show has City & Guilds and Edge Foundation as its premier sponsors, and is a unique celebration to inspire people with exciting opportunities in further education, skills and Apprenticeships.

After a tough selection process the most exceptional Apprenticeship employers from all five National Apprenticeship Awards employer categories went forward to feature in the list, which showcases the breadth of employers who now offer Apprenticeships.

Atos was selected for having displayed the very highest standards of excellence in employing apprentices across England, which also builds on their recent success of achieving the Investors in People Award for Apprenticeship Employer Newcomer of the Year for the North East region.

Commenting on the company’s entry in the Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers list, Senior Vice President – Human Resources of Atos, Kevin Wilkinson said:

“We are delighted to be acknowledged as one of the Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers in England, which builds on our recent success as Investors in People Award for Apprenticeship Employer Newcomer of the Year for the North East region.”

“This is a fantastic accolade which we at Atos are all very proud of. Our newly developed apprenticeship programme has allowed us to attract talented and driven individuals to our company. We have been working hard over the last year to make this scheme a successful one, and are delighted by the progress our apprentices have made.”

“We will continue to introduce new apprentices schemes in the future responding to business demands.”

Writing to Atos the Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg, said:

“I would like to take this chance to congratulate Atos on your success at this year’s National Apprenticeship Awards.”

“Apprenticeships are at the heart of our drive for a stronger economy: equipping people of all ages with the skills employers need to help their businesses prosper and compete in a global market.”

“And, as we work to increase the opportunities for hard-working young to people to achieve their ambitions through high-quality apprenticeship training, it is vitally important that we celebrate the achievements of employers like you, who go the extra mile to help their apprentices and succeed.”

Interim Director of Apprenticeships at the National Apprenticeship Service, congratulated all the Top 100 on their success:

“The vast range of employers on our Top 100 list just goes to show the huge impact Apprenticeships have on companies of all sizes and the UK economy.”

“Apprenticeships are a brilliant way for businesses to grow their own talent, and nurture a dedicated and loyal workforce. All of the businesses on this list have shown a real commitment to their apprentices, and are shining examples of how engaging with Apprenticeships can help your business to thrive.”

Meanwhile, CEO and Director General of City & Guilds, Chris Jones, said:

“Business of all types and across all industries need qualified, well-trained staff to boost productivity and future growth. Apprenticeships help employers develop the workforce of tomorrow, as well as giving people the skills they need to succeed in employment.”

“To be named a Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer is a real honour. Atos should feel incredibly proud of what they’ve achieved. I hope other employers will be inspired to follow in their footsteps and discover the benefits Apprenticeships can offer.”
