Critical National Infrastructure Centre of Excellence

We have a strong presence across the 13 sectors the UK government define as Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) and a particular area of specialism in the veins of CNI.

These are the networks of infrastructure that form the backbone of our society and economy. For example, the grid that supplies the energy to run our country or the pipes delivering water to our homes and businesses.

In fact, we support clients across six of the mission-critical network sub-sectors: energy and utilities, transport, logistics networks, telecommunication & IP networks and public service broadcast networks. Underpinning all this, is the enabling OT & IT, including data centers which are now classified as CNI by the government.

On top of this, we support the delivery of vital services that depend on these mission-critical networks, for example retail and hospitality, health and financial services.

We are under no illusions as to the seriousness of our role. Recent events like the power outage in Europe, the fire near Heathrow, and cyber security events across retail firms have clarified our focus on what’s needed to be a partner to such vital organizations.

This is why we are developing a Centre of Excellence to fuse our team’s knowledge, skills, capabilities and experience. We are bringing our diverse teams together to share their sector knowledge, leverage our engineering heritage, and look at where our solutions and insights could bring value across all our clients.

We aim to bring internal and external stakeholders into one entity including our partners, regulators and industry advisors and of course, our clients, who together with our teams possess deep understanding of the industry challenges and can co-create the solutions to tackle them.

The synergies in our domain expertise and the IP in our solutions will unlock new capabilities for these six sub-industries and it is the common engineering skillsets and the shared knowledge and experience in each of these sectors that will boost our impact and provide direction for our investment in this space.
