Atos calls for fresh thinking on jobs and skills

London, Thursday 23 June 2022

Atos last night celebrated the launch of Innovating Up at a summer reception for UK MPs and Lords.

Following the publication of the UK’s Digital Strategy earlier this month, Innovating Up aims to bring business leaders, local stakeholders and political representatives at all levels and from across the political spectrum together to identify how the UK can use the expansion of Digital technology to unlock growth in every corner of the country.

As part of the launch, Atos published its first report on Innovating Up featuring a series of articles by senior leaders within the company. The report highlights how digital transformation projects can benefit local communities as well as looking at how jobs and skills provision are changing to address the requirements of an increasingly digital world.

The Innovating Up project focuses on three key themes. Innovating Digital considers how business, local community partnerships and government can implement digital transformation programmes to deliver sustainable growth. Innovating Jobs asks what the jobs of the future will look like and how we can deliver them. Innovating Skills questions how businesses can work with government to make sure we have the skills needed to do the jobs of the future.

Atos Senior Vice President, Head of Strategy, Marketing, Communications and Public Affairs in Northern Europe and APAC, Kulveer Ranger, said:

For decades, Governments of every shape and party have tried to unleash the creativity and industry of communities across the UK. New technologies like artificial intelligence and cloud services, combined with new ways of working following the pandemic, mean that the UK can finally and meaningfully level up if we create the right environment for business innovation.

“We need fresh thinking on jobs, skills and the role of digital transformation to make it happen. With the breadth of our operations and the range of private and public sector organisations we work with, Atos is uniquely placed to bring people together to discuss how we can level up by Innovating Up.”

Samantha Jones, Senior Vice President, Health & Life Sciences, UK&I & NE commented:

With Atos employees and clients working in almost every community in Great Britain and Northern Ireland, we see real benefits in improving employment, pay and productivity across the country. Over the coming year we will explore with local leaders how we can deliver and keep high-quality, high-paid job opportunities, backed by the right skills, in every town and city.”

Alongside the first report, a new website at atos.net/innovating-up has been launched to support the project. Organisations interested in getting involved in the project have also been encouraged to contact Atos at digitalsociety@atos.net or on social media using the hashtag #InnovatingUp
