Atos-Lösung PeekabooAV erhält Innovationspreis der OSB Alliance

Die Open-Source-Software PeekabooAV hat einen der renommierten Open Source Business Awards, kurz OSBAR, der OSB Alliance im Rahmen der OPEN! Konferenz in Stuttgart erhalten. Als Bindeglied zwischen der weit verbreiteten Mailserver-Software Amavis und dem Sandboxscanner Cuckoo verbessert PeekabooAV die Erkennung von Schadsoftware in E-Mails und sorgt für eine effizientere Abwehr von Malware-Attacken.

E-Mails und deren Anhänge stellen weiterhin den Hauptangriffspunkt für Cyber-Attacken gegen Unternehmen dar. Um polymorphe Schadsoftware wie die Ransomware Petya/NoPetya zu erkennen, benötigen traditionelle Virenscanner Unterstützung in Form neuer Verfahren. Polymorphe Viren ändern kontinuierlich ihren Code und sind daher für Virenscanner nur schwer zu erkennen. PeekabooAV agiert hier als Vermittler zwischen dem Virenscanner Amavis und dem Sandboxscanner Cuckoo, einem Tool für die Verhaltensanalyse von beliebigen Dateien. Mithilfe eines vordefinierten Regelwerks optimiert PeekabooAV die Analyse von Cuckoo. Eine automatisch aktualisierte Datenbank bereits gescannter Anhänge vermeidet redundante Scan-Vorgänge. Anschließend wertet PeekabooAV das Ergebnis der Analyse aus und entscheidet, entweder den Anhang zu blocken oder an den Empfänger weiterzuleiten.
