Atos supports the arrival of the 4th Gen AMD EPYC processors, instrumental for our next-gen hybrid HPC, BullSequana XH3000

The incessant pursuit of scientific and research discovery as well as the advent of new technology continues to drive the demand for HPC (High-Performance Computing). On one hand, the data deluge is growing at an exponential rate, urging more computing/simulation resources. On the other hand, “sustainability” and “digital security” are new imperatives in addition to performance. It is crucial to reconcile/orchestrate performance, efficiency, and security in an advanced architecture to meet the need for any scale toward Exascale simulations. With the democratization of “as-a-service”, simulations should be run anywhere and any way the users want.

As an undisputed leader in HPC, Atos has revealed its next-gen hybrid supercomputing, BullSequana XH3000, in Feb 2022. In combining cutting-edge processing technologies, Atos 4th generation (DLC) Direct Liquid Cooling technology, and an architecture that is flexible, dense, and secured by design, BullSequana XH3000, delivers both unprecedented performance and unrivaled efficiency.

Collaboration is Key

In today’s rapidly changing world, collaboration/partnership is essential for accelerated innovations. Partnering with trend-setters enables value creation at scale and speed. Atos is thrilled to welcome the arrival of the 4th Gen AMD EPYC™ processors which will feature the Atos BullSequana XH3000 to continuously raise the bar yet again for workload performance and a new level of efficiency.

Technology leadership is fundamental

  • Architecture leadership: AMD has a long history of X86 firsts and the innovation continues in the 4th Gen AMD EPYC processor. On top of its X86 5nm form factor advantages, AMD is introducing support for high-performant DDR5 DIMMs and fast PCIe® Gen 5 I/O, which enables the demands of today’s AI and ML applications and the increasing use of accelerators, GPUs, FPGAs, and more. For Atos, the future of HPC is hybrid computing!
  • Efficiency: Efficiency is the combination of high performance and low power consumption. The 4th Gen AMD EPYC™ processors, furthering the 3rd Gen AMD EPYC™, deliver impressive performance. Empowered by this new generation processor, BullSequana XH3000 will help our common customers to pay real dividends for our world.
  • Performance: with up to 96 cores and 6TB of memory or CPU, AMD EPYC™ 9004 series processors can provide outstanding results across a wide spectrum of industry-standard applications.
  • Security by Design: The exciting AMD EPYC processors helped enable innovative technology like Confidential Computing, and with a dedicated, fully integrated on-die security processor; the AMD EPYC 9004 series expands on the AMD Infinity Guard security feature set continuing to add layers for both physical and virtual security.

Accelerated hybrid computing, any way you want to run

As a long-standing partner, Atos supports the arrival of the 4th Gen AMD EPYC processors, based on “Zen 4” architecture, across the new product lineup. They are instrumental for our next-gen hybrid HPC, BullSequana XH3000. In executing our “accelerated hybrid computing, any way you want to run” strategy, we will be able to empower our clients to run their most demanding workload at a new level of energy efficiency in the cloud, on-premises, or off-premises, in containers, VMs, on bare metal, whichever way the clients want.
