Atos and Orange to boost digital transformation in the Middle East & Africa

Paris, February 22, 2022 Atos today announced that it supports Orange, the leading multinational telecommunications operator, with two major projects in the Middle East and Africa region. The two organizations will work together on critical digital transformation topics, including cloud, to facilitate Orange’s business development in the region as well as improving its operational resilience and overall business agility, decreasing its carbon emissions and optimizing its operating expenses.

Atos has just won the renewal of the ‘CISA’ contract with Orange which aims to maintain and support around 100 applications in key domains – such as charging, billing, customer relationship management, business intelligence and big data, provisioning, order capture and management – in 14 countries where Orange is located. CISA also includes the infrastructure management for 4 affiliates (Burkina Faso, Sierra Leone, Cameroun, Madagascar) with a plan to standardize the approach to other affiliates across the region.

Atos uses a ‘local to local’ approach and works with its local delivery centers spread over the Middle East and Africa region. With the contract renewal, Atos expands its scope from 7 Orange MEA affiliates covered in 2017 to a total of 14 today, increasing the shared services between the Orange entities and optimizing cost savings. The contract renewal is set up with additional scope towards covering new innovative domains such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, cloud monitoring services and cloud orchestration, predictive maintenance, and intelligent automation.

As part of another project, Atos will also work with Orange to deploy Orange Private Cloud in 6 affiliates (Burkina Faso, Botswana, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Botswana, and Democratic Republic of the Congo). In these countries, Atos may also support the onboarding of multivendor applications in Orange Private Cloud. To achieve this, Atos is leveraging its end-to-end expertise in cloud services, as illustrated by its ”Atos OneCloud” ground-breaking initiative to help clients navigate their cloud journey securely.

With these two projects, Orange will significantly optimize its operating expenses in the 5 coming years, decrease its carbon emissions, and improve its operational resilience and overall business agility.

We are happy to work hand in hand with Orange and to support its activities in the Middle East and Africa region. As Orange’s local business continues to grow, we bring our digital, network and cloud expertise to the successful management and migration of Orange’s critical applications, constantly adapting to the very specific needs of our client. We work closely with our key partners to build innovative proposals for Orange while remaining a key player in next-generation digital transformation solutions,” says Alpha Barry, Head of Atos in Africa.

We have ambitious digital transformation projects for our affiliates (Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cameroun, Central Africa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Guinea Bissau, Guinea Conakry, Ivory Coast, Jordan, Liberia, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Tunisia). Atos’ expertise in cloud services and business-critical application management, its deep knowledge of the telecom market, and its local presence in several countries in Middle East and Africa, make it a very valuable partner for Orange in the region,” says Jocelyn Karakula, CTIO, Orange Middle East & Africa.
