Atos strengthens its commitment to sustainability, with ISO 14001 environmental certification for four of its Atos | Syntel sites in India

Mumbai, India, January 29 2020

Atos, global leader in digital transformation, today announced that four of its largest sites in India, consolidated through the acquisition of Syntel in 2018, have achieved ISO 14001 environmental certification, which reflects the company’s commitment to use resources efficiently and responsibly and to measure and manage environmental impact of company decisions. This is in line with Atos Group standards, as almost 90% of its main offices and core datacenters are already certified or in the process of being certified at the end of 2019. These Atos | Syntel sites include two locations in Mumbai (SEEPZ and Airoli), as well as two global development campuses located in Pune and Chennai.

ISO 14001 is an international standard that specifies requirements for an effective environmental management system (EMS), which provides an operational tool for measuring environmental goals. The new ISO 14001 certification addresses a wide range of environmental initiatives, including carbon reduction, energy consumption, travel impacts, and waste and recycling management across the four sites.

Rakesh Khanna, CEO of Atos | Syntel said:

“Atos is proud to be on the cutting edge of environmental responsibility, by earning ISO 14001 certification for our biggest facilities in India. We are leading by example and setting a new standard in India, making Atos a great place to work and doing our part to make the planet a better place for future generations.”

Philippe Mareine, Chief Digital and Transformation Officer, Head of Group Human Resources & CSR at Atos said:

“ISO 14001 is a key operational tool for achieving our environmental goals. At the end of 2019 and throughout the entire Group, almost 90% of our main offices and core datacenters have been or are in the progress of being certified. I congratulate all 28,000 Atos employees in India for their involvement in this demanding process. Such certification shows Atos’ consistent commitment towards a sustainable planet, in line with Atos´ statement of purpose.”

For the past 10 years, the Atos Environmental Program has focused on supporting the necessary transition to a low-carbon economy by reducing the Company’s carbon emissions and minimizing the environmental impact of its activities and its customers’ businesses.
