Winner of Second Female FinTech competition announced

Following the successful Female FinTech event in 2019, Atos alongside Deutsche Bank, Google Could & Tech Quartier decided to run the event again in 2020. The organisations invited FinTech organisations and groups to submit applications from female founders or females within their top management groups to pitch their business cases.

Selected from multiple applications globally, 6 inspiring female founders and co-founders were invited to virtually pitch their business cases in front of the judges in the finale, taking place on Thursday 29th October 2020.

After public voting, presentations and Q&A sessions from all of the contestants, Seema Khinda Johnson, co-founder and COO of Nuggets was adjudicated the winner.

Nuggets is a UK-based FinTech start-up offering a decentralised self-sovereign identity and payment platform that allows users to store their personal and payment details securely in the block chain, so it is never shared online.

After the win, Seema said, “Initiatives like this help to facilitate a culture for female-led start-ups to thrive. With peer-to-peer networking, go-to-market support and access to some of the world’s largest banks and insurance organisations, women achieve greater success, faster. I am proud to be a part of the initiative and incredibly honoured to be awarded the 2020 Female FinTech winner. A massive thank you to Atos, Deutsche Bank and Google for actively supporting female tech talent, and supporting women to scale and accelerate their businesses

Women often remain under-represented in the FinTech industry, the goal of this competition is to promote gender diversity in the industry and support women in bringing awareness to their innovative business ideas. This global competition aims to achieve that vision by bringing together female leaders in FinTech to foster and encourage innovation & growth in the FinTech space by providing the winners with access to relevant resource, networks and expertise.

After the event, Atos judge, Ozlum Yavis said, “I had the pleasure to join the jury of the Female Fintech 2020 and was impressed by talented women and their creative business ideas for the Finance industry. The judges had a tough time choosing the winner as all the finalists demonstrated great pitches. I look forward to seeing how those companies develop in the future and how we can support them during their journey

The winners will benefit from Atos, Deutsche Bank and Google support based on the needs and maturity of their FinTech start up. The prizes will vary from mentorship, to a possible go-to-market for more mature FinTech with one of the companies- organizers of the competition and possibly on boarding in the Atos Fintech Engagement Program and FS&I Sandbox.
