Atos encourages the development of young talents in Senegal

Dakar, 2nd February 2018

Atos, a global leader in digital transformation and major technology player in Africa, has signed a partnership agreement with the Mariama Ba Maison d’Education, an institution of reference in Senegal, this week, with the aim of reinforcing the right learning conditions to develop African talent.

Located on the Gorée island in Dakar, the public educational institution which is exclusively devoted to the education of young girls, from the start of middle school to the end of high school (from 11 – 17 years old) has established itself as a model of excellence in Senegal and beyond, in the West African region.

Under the initiative of Thierry Breton, CEO and Chairman of the Atos Group, and in the presence of President Macky Sall, the Group announced its intention to become a leading partner of the institution. This partnership illustrates the commitment of the Atos Group to develop excellence networks in Senegal, as the Conference on the Global Partnership for Education, in which Thierry Breton is participating, takes place in Dakar.

The partnership with Atos includes the refurbishment of the classrooms and the modernization of digital resources, as well as professional collaboration activities such as skills-based sponsorship, internships and mentoring. It is offering both a quality work environment and the opportunity for students to build a closer knowledge with digital technologies and professions.

This initiative is fully in line with Atos Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility program: it supports the development of excellence networks and strengthens the role of women’s talents in economies. It responds to both the ambitions of the Emerging Senegal Plan and the goals of the United Nations’ sustainable development in education and gender equality.

In addition, in order to accompany the development of digital talent in the region, Atos is strengthening its Tier 1 recruitment Programme in Senegal with four flagship institutions, comprising nearly 100 000 students: the Dakar Ecole Supérieure Polytechnique, Gaston Berger University, Cheikh-Anta-Diop University and the African Institute of Mathematical Sciences.
