Atos partners in new pan-European research project to support next generation of trustworthy smart IoT systems

Paris, March 21 2018

Atos, the European leader for identity and access management with its Evidian product suite, today launches the ENACT project, a pan-European research project led by SINTEF, the Norwegian independent research organization, with the aim of offering complete DevOps support to facilitate the creation and operation of trustworthy Smart IoT Systems (SIS). DevOpsENACT involves 11 industrial and academic partners from 6 countries, with a global budget of 4,9 million euros, funded by the H2020 Research and Innovation program.

ENACT will provide an integrated DevOps Framework composed of a set of loosely coupled enablers that can be easily integrated with existing IoT platforms via plug in mechanism.

Atos will lead two work packages:

  • Access Control security – With its Evidian product suite, Atos will focus on the robustness, security and privacy enforcement applied to smart IoT systems leveraging its Identity Governance and Web Access Manager products. It will design and develop situation-aware authorization services, taking into account risk/trust indicators.
  • Dissemination and Exploitation – Atos co-ordinates the strategy and activity of all partners in the project, ensuring that all consortium members publish and promote their results and/or contribution..

With ENACT, Atos is once again contributing to a vast European project, which enables advanced research to be carried out to offer the most innovative solutions to its customers. We are very proud to participate to Horizon 2020 and to be working together with renowned industrialists and research institutions. This shows our partners’ trust in Atos and in our leadership position in this field”, says Sébastien Brachet, COO of Evidian product range at Atos. “Our expertise in identity and access management (IAM) allows us to contribute to the excellence of European technology in this field. In return, we foresee a joint effort by the partners to improve the respective offers and, for Atos, considerable progress for future products in its IAM suite”.

The DevOps approach precisely advocates a set of software engineering best practices and tools, to ensure Quality of Service whilst continuously evolving complex systems and foster agility, rapid innovation cycles, and ease of use. ENACT intends to apply and evolve the next generation of DevOps tools and methods to facilitate the development and operation of trustworthy smart IoT applications.

The results of the ENACT project will be beneficial in areas in which trustworthy smart IoT systems are crucial, such as intelligent transports, smart buildings and smart cities, and eHealth.
