Atos partners in the European project ANASTACIA for IoT security

The project funded by the European Union will ensure security of IoT-based Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) with a dynamic Security and Privacy Seal

Paris, Madrid, 6th April 2017

Atos, a global leader in digital transformation, is a partner in the ANASTACIA project (Advanced Networked Agents for Security and Trust Assessment in CPS/IoT Architectures) to provide a holistic solution to enable trust and security for Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) based on IoT and Cloud architectures.

Atos brings its extensive experience in cybersecurity to the project, providing architectural solutions to create an integral IoT service provider platform. Atos will also implement mechanisms to monitor devices, respond to cyber-attacks and manage the development of control agents embedded in local devices or remote servers. The response to detected cyber-attacks will then be automatic.

A myriad of devices (appliances, drones, and even devices embedded in clothing) are currently connected to the Internet, interacting with each other. Their applications often overlook the security and protection of personal information, which recently led to a number of cyber-attacks on personal data. The lack of an industrial and academic consensus for the standardization of processes, protocols and practices for the provision of services for this type of infrastructure has not helped either.

“The ANASTACIA project aims to overcome these issues with an integral platform to provide secure services on IoT-based architectures.” explains Rodrigo Díaz, Head of the Cybersecurity Laboratory at Atos Research & Innovation Department The solution will provide mechanisms to guarantee security in each phase of the life cycle of these services: from the development with solutions based on the principles of Security by Design, to the evaluation of and reaction to risks and threats based on device monitoring.”

In addition, ANASTACIA will enable the integration of resources present in other types of networks, like Cloud, through the orchestration of virtual components such as Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization, (NFV), for a greater control over the overall security of the system. ANASTACIA will also develop a Dynamic Security and Privacy Seal that will give a global view of the security level of an IoT infrastructure.

We are very proud of our deep involvement in the ANASTACIA project. Cybersecurity is a key component of Atos Digital Transformation Factory. Atos’ continued participation in the European ecosystem enhances our ability to secure the digital transformation journey of our clients and partners.” says Chris Moret, Atos VP Cybersecurity.

Co-funded by the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 program, ANASTACIA is supported by a consortium of 14 partners from 7 different countries including Atos (Spain), Softeco (Italy), Thales (France), Ericsson (Finland), the United Technologies Research Center (Ireland), the University of Murcia (Spain), Montimage (France), The Italian National Research Council (CNR), the University of Aalto (Finland), Ubitech (Greece), Mandat International (Switzerland), Odin Solutions (Spain), Device Gateway (Switzerland) and Archimede Solutions. The project began on 1st January 2017 and will last three years.
