The Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) certified Atos, an international leader in digital services, as an IT security service provider for penetration tests. With these tests, IT experts challenge the security measures taken by customers with targeted attacks. This certification confirms the IT security expertise of Atos to perform penetration tests in line with guideline UP Bund and strengthens the continuous cooperation with the BSI.

“This new certification by the BSI underlines our comprehensive competences in IT security. We thoroughly test the IT systems of our customers so they can securely focus on the development of their business”, says Winfried Holz, CEO Atos Germany.
During a penetration test the IT environment of a customer is attacked by experts creating various scenarios and aiming at different targets. The testing can thus simulate a threat from outsiders as well as from employees or an attack by external employees having access to internal systems. The faked attacks aim at theft or manipulation of company data and at harming the availability of IT systems. Other targets of the simulated attacks are the security measures for company WIFI, internal core applications, internet applications, manufacturing sites and IoT devices. The BSI certification as IT security service provider for penetration tests will be valid from August 2016 and can be extended after audits by the BSI. Since 2013 Atos is already certified by the BSI as IT security service provider for information security advice and information security audit.
