Atos Germany and Telefónica Germany enter strategic partnership

Munich, 21 July 2016

Atos, a leading international provider of digital services and Telefónica Germany enter a strategic partnership, through which core elements of the IT operation will be delivered by Atos through managed services.

Furthermore this partnership enables Telefónica Germany to implement new technological developments and innovation faster, in order to develop the existing IT infrastructure in the wake of the digital transformation.

“Due to the merger of the IT organizations from Telefónica Germany and E-Plus and with the aim at further simplifying and optimizing the IT operation, we decided within a new partnership to hand over the responsibility for the IT operation to Atos, whose core business is the efficient operation of large-scale IT infrastructures, among others. Thanks to this we are well positioned for the challenges the ongoing digitization of the mobile communications market has in store”, saysGuido Eidmann, CIO at Telefónica Germany.

As part of the agreement, on July 1 2016 about 140 employees from the service operations team of Telefónica in Germany transferred to Atos Germany within the transfer of operations.
