“Atos launches WiFi Calling solution in partnership with sector leader Lydrasoft”

  • New solution allows for economic and high-quality phone calls and messages, while ensuring continuity of service associated with consumers’ individual mobile phone numbers
  • Communication Service Providers are able to boost indoor coverage and to enhance customer loyalty

Atos, an international leader in digital services, launches an innovative WiFi Calling solution in collaboration with mobile device software vendor, Lydrasoft. The combined forces of Lydrasoft’s user friendly smartphone software with call control and messaging interworking products from Atos guarantee a seamless user experience. Communication Service Providers (CSP) can now benefit from the advantages of Atos and Lydrasoft’s WiFi Calling solution that has been designed as “good-to-go”, ensuring that they can test, trial and roll-out simply and rapidly.

Among the top challenges faced by CSPs are:

  • Acute downturn of mobile revenues, partially due to revenue leakage to Over-The-Top (OTT) players and applications
  • High churn amongst business and consumer customers where many customer complaints are related to poor network coverage
  • Radio network overload due to the data traffic uptake on existing cellular networks as well as future LTE deployment

Atos and Lydrasoft’s WiFi Calling solution makes an immediate and measurable contribution in all three of these critical areas. Business and consumer customers have begun to use OTT services such as Microsoft Lync or Skype to enjoy free voice calling where there is WiFi coverage. This saves them money but can compromise the quality of service. By offering WiFi Calling, CSPs can offer all the cost-benefits of OTT players, while ensuring customers benefit from the continuity of service associated with their individual mobile phone number and allowing CSPs to enhance the customer relationship and intimacy. Additionally, CSPs can boost indoor coverage enabling their customers to make calls using WiFi Calling even when they are outside the cellular coverage area.

For Christopher Dulya, SVP Telco Network Products at Atos,
WiFi Calling is a winner for everybody: “Consumers will love it because it offers them economic and high-quality phone calls without needing to worry about opening a separate application or maintaining several subscriptions with each OTT player. Customers won’t need to worry about roaming charges while being abroad, as they can use WiFi Calling as if they were at home. CSPs will love it too because it can put an end to the black holes and boost their coverage at a much lower cost than other network solutions. Teaming up with Lydrasoft allows us to bring a distinctive solution to the market.”

Lydrasoft VP of Sales, Brett Cassidy
, is convinced that this new partnership with Atos will create exceptional value for service providers and consumers alike: “We are excited about partnering with a company with such depth of knowledge of the telecommunications sector. The Atos and Lydrasoft WiFi Calling turnkey solution offers CSPs a tremendous opportunity to increase their revenues and build customer loyalty.”
