“For the fifth year running, Atos is official partner of the “Global Conference”, organised by Planet Workshops”
Paris, 4 June 2014
Atos, an international IT services company, is partnering with Planet Workshops, for the fifth year running. The ninth Global Conference is held on 4th and 5th June 2014 at Fontevraud Abbey, near Tours in France and the theme is: “Time to make a choice”. Atos confirms its commitment to corporate responsibility at this event where it will demonstrate how new technologies are driving social change.
Thierry Breton, CEO of Atos, commented: “We are proud to be the official partner of the Global Conference, which supports our strategy to work with and involve a large number of stakeholders in the wide-ranging debate on the challenges of sustainable development. This event is also an opportunity to publicly showcase the progress we have made in corporate responsibility and to present our latest innovations which we believe will benefit wider society and more specifically our clients. I am particularly pleased that in March this year, Atos was awarded for the fourth year running A+ certification by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and has been included on the 2013 Global Index for sustainable development part of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index World.”
At this conference, Atos will present the impact that the third digital revolution has already had on our lives today and the challenges that this presents.
Technology and its new applications are changing forever our environment. Our hyper-connected society - internet, social networks, connected cars, connected homes, and e-healthcare services - is now undergoing a structural change in which information is massively enhancing economic, social and environmental performance.
The huge volume of data generated every day by individuals online, companies or governments creates a pool of information, which when analysed and exploited enables providers to offer new services to their clients.
By exploiting big data, predictive information, personalised contextual data, trend forecasts and complex mechanisms can be analysed and better understood. This in turn enables us to envisage all sorts of new services such as remote health monitoring, for example the CHIRON project, services to forecast traffic flows or when parts need maintenance as well as solutions to anticipate peaks in pollution or climate change and the management of energy distribution grids.
In addition to the services available to organisations, the digital revolution offers individuals the ability to better manage their health, energy expenditure, and their relationships with government bodies.
In addition to the achievements already mentioned – A+ certification from GRI and inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index, Atos demonstrates its commitment to sustainable development through the following successes:
- Atos reduced its carbon footprint by 55% between 2009 and 2013 and aims to reduce by a further 50% between now and 2015
- Atos was awarded Group A for its carbon performance by the Carbon Disclosure Project, positioning the company among the most committed leaders in response to climate change
- Atos was positioned among the Magic Quadrant leaders by Gartner for its automated information management services – a testament to its continued focus on innovation
- Atos was positioned by Verdantix among the frontrunners in its Green Quadrant for energy management solutions
- Atos won the "SAP Pinnacle Award" for Sustainable Development for the second year running
- Atos was recognised as a Great Place to Work in Austria, Poland and Turkey by the Great Place to Work® Institute
