Atos is the Worldwide IT Partner of the Paralympic Games
The Paralympic Games are elite sport events for athletes and clearly emphasize the participants’ athletic achievements, not their disability. The movement has grown dramatically since its early days.
The role of IT at the Paralympic Games is changing significantly, reflecting new expectations about its organization, delivery and experience.
Our business technologists are looking forward to supporting the Paralympic Games in Rio 2016 and over 20 other major para-sport events including events such as the IPC Athletics World Championships, IPC Swimming World Championships.
The IPC and Atos work together and make step changes in technology innovations to turn the Paralympic Games into a fully connected global experience
What we deliver
Information Technology products and services are key to the transformation and delivery of the Paralympic Games, including systems to process accreditations for all those involved in the events, timing and scoring services, the SMART player and the systems and services to distribute the results to the world’s media in less than a second.
The SMART player application which Atos created enables those watching live swimming and wheelchair basketball on www.paralympic.org to view real-time results tickers, statistics, biographies, news and social media – all in one integrated and synchronized window. It also simplifies the user’s interests and gives specific and relevant results per sport, similar to the ones available to commentators inside the venues.
We also manage and run the IPC website – www.paralympic.org – the most important communication channel to promote Paralympic sports, athletes and news to a global audience. The new site, developed by Atos, was launched in February 2012 and saw visitor numbers in 2012 increase by 489 per cent on 2011.
