About Michaël Vanderheyden

Lead UX Engineer

Michaël is a Lead UX Engineer and a Certified Professional in Web Accessibility (CPWA) at cycos AG, an Atos company. Since 2004, Michael has been dedicated to crafting intuitive user interfaces, driven by the belief that accessibility is not a feature but a fundamental mark of respect for user autonomy.

Known in the dev community as Th3S4mur41, he brings the discipline and focus of a martial artist — cultivated through Karate, BJJ, and MMA — to the world of clean code and resilient web standards.

At cycos AG, he bridges the gap between modern HTML/CSS patterns and inclusive design to ensure digital experiences work for everyone, regardless of ability. When he isn’t refining UI patterns, Michael explores the Belgian forests on his mountain bike or enjoys dog-trekking with his Husky. He writes about the intersection of technical craftsmanship, digital inclusion, and the human side of UX engineering.
