Atos creates AI-proofed career paths for 30 apprentices in Birmingham
United Kingdom – February 10, 2026
Atos, a global leader in AI-powered digital transformation, today announced that it is hiring 30 apprentices at its new Sovereign Delivery Centre on Birmingham Business Park in Solihull.
The Sovereign Delivery Centre is being transformed into a state-of-the-art, sustainably built centre that leverages Atos’ 30 years of engineering heritage to provide an AI-enabled suite of sovereign offerings. It addresses the growing demand for UK-based IT delivery, agentic automation, data hosting and resiliency for public sector, defence and critical national infrastructure businesses.
With the support of Next Tech Girls, Atos is hiring IT Service Desk Apprentices to support clients with nationwide operations. The apprentices will work as First Line Support Desk Agents, with responsibilities including acting as the first point of contact for clients, incident logging, troubleshooting, escalation and customer service, whilst completing a Level 3 Qualification for 20% of their time.
Rather than training in just one field of technology, new recruits will gain hands-on experience across AI, cloud, cybersecurity, data analytics, and digital services. This approach ensures individuals grow alongside AI, building resilient careers that evolve with technology rather than compete with it.
“Through these apprenticeship hires, we are redefining the skills the next generation of UK-based talent need to thrive in an AI-driven workplace. We believe these will be both technical and softer skills, such as curiosity, experimentation and creativity. As well as expanding our sovereign IT service offerings, we’re proud to be helping young people in the UK develop the expertise they need to thrive in a workplace where humans and AI co-exist.” said Michael Herron, Head of Atos UK&I.
The apprenticeship programme is being run in partnership with Solihull College & University Centre, where the apprentices will receive their classroom-based education.
“We are proud to partner with Atos to equip apprentices with the skills, confidence and technical experience needed to thrive in a rapidly changing digital landscape. This apprenticeship programme gives learners access to cutting‑edge technologies and real‑world problem solving from day one, ensuring they build strong, future‑proof careers in an AI‑enabled world.” said Nancy Buckley, Vice Principal, Business Growth, Skills and Partnerships, Solihull College & University Centre.
“Solihull welcomes Atos’ decision to invest in our borough and create 30 new apprenticeship opportunities that will equip young people with the skills to thrive in an AI-enabled economy. Apprenticeships like this combine structured learning with real workplace experience, giving young people the skills and confidence to build lasting careers as technology evolves. We look forward to working with Atos and Solihull College to make these opportunities accessible to our communities and to support the next generation of tech talent.” said Cllr Heather Delaney, Cabinet Member for Economy, Business & Skills, Solihull Council.
