Atos selected by HS2 Ltd as IT Delivery Partner to propel high-speed railway vision over next five years

London, 26 September, 2024 – Atos, a global leader in digital transformation, has been selected by HS2 Ltd to serve as its IT Delivery Partner. This new five-year strategic partnership builds on their existing relationship, which began in 2021. The partnership will provide the necessary skills, expertise and experience to enable HS2 to deliver a world class 21st Century railway service that embraces new technologies.

To help HS2 achieve its objectives, Atos has formed a new consortium that will blend world-leading digital twin for infrastructure strategy from Cohesive, sustainable digital solutions and deep rail and construction expertise from Arup, complex data specialism and Asset Information Modelling from Chimera Datalabs and AI expertise from Futuria. This consortium, coupled with Atos’s extensive experience with HS2 and expertise in business change, will drive the successful adoption of technology initiatives.

The consortium is underpinned by Atos’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Critical National Infrastructure (CNI), which boasts a team of over 3,500 technical specialists, including 1,000 experts in engineering, asset management, and railway operational processes.

The CoE will serve as a pivotal resource for HS2, granting them access to insights and knowledge about relevant technologies in the construction and rail sectors, gleaned from Atos’s extensive experience working with other Critical National Infrastructure Clients, including rail, nuclear and utilities companies.
Through the CoE and consortium, Atos will also tap into their broader ecosystem of technology partners to deliver innovative solutions and enhance performance, supporting HS2’s strategic goals.

Graham Scanlon, Client Executive Partner, Atos, said: “We are thrilled to be at the forefront of helping HS2 deliver a world leading End-State Railway and proud that they have confirmed their trust in Atos and our esteemed partners to support them at such a critical time. By harnessing the power of our new consortium and the resources in our Centre of Excellence for Critical Infrastructure, we hope we can foster a legacy of technological advancement that will resonate for years to come.”

Sonia Zahiroddiny, CIO, HS2, added: “The new strategic partnership with Atos and its partners marks a significant milestone on our path to delivering a fully operational high-speed railway in Britain. It also aligns with our commitment to improve resilience, flexibility and value in our supplier ecosystem through enduring collaborative arrangements. Our collaboration with Atos will bring a wealth of data and technology skills with blended experience in both rail and engineering practices to support HS2 in delivering the right capabilities at the right time.”
