Atos celebrates International Men’s Day and Movember

On 19 November, the Inspire Network celebrated International Men’s Day. The annual calendar event brings together people of all genders to recognise men’s health and promote positive expressions of masculinity. This year in the UK, International Men’s Day focused on three core themes:

  • Making a positive difference towards men’s wellbeing
  • Promoting a positive conversation around masculinity
  • Raising awareness and funds for charities supporting men’s wellbeing

The Atos Inspire Network, a network for all genders, marked this day by holding a number of events. The sessions focused on the link between men’s mental and physical health, male mentoring, men within the LGBT+ community, and what it means to be a man. These sessions highlighted the importance of fostering an open and communicative environment as the panelists balanced traditional and current views of what it means to be male in 2020.

Jeremy Itoje, Global Digital Workplace Evangelist, said: “Atos put on some incredible talks throughout International Men’s day. My main takeaway was around living a healthy balanced life and not feeling embarrassed or emasculated when I need to discuss my feelings.”

As well as celebrating International Men’s Day, the Atos Inspire Network supported Movember, continuing its commitment to raise awareness for men’s positive mental health including around issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men’s suicide. Many colleagues rose to the challenge of growing a moustache for the occasion which contributed towards funds for The Movember Foundation.
