Skills & Employment Accessibility Alliance

 

What is this Project?

Overall Objective:

Providing predominately individuals with disabilities the knowledge and skills to obtain meaningful employment as an Accessibility Specialist or Personal Assistant (focusing on disability support) in the Egypt geography through a phased training and work experience program.

Duration:

6-month training and 6-month work experience (totalling 12-months per cohort) and the Alliance will run for three years.

Accessibility Specialist Training
(Technical Program)

Enables the employment of candidates in 4 key roles :

  1. Accessible & Inclusive UX Design
  2. Accessible Technical Consultant
  3. Accessibility Auditor/Tester
  4. Accessibility Project Manager

Training will be delivered over a 6-month period through online and in person training sessions, which is then complimented with a 6-month job placement, hopefully leading to long term employment in the placement organisation.

Accessibility Fundamentals Workshops

Promotion of training programs, profession, disability awareness and accessibility best practices to enable companies to build accessible and inclusive e-governance.

Disability Inclusive Personal/ Executive Assistants Training

Accessibility fundamentals for meetings, events, documents, communications and supporting an individual with disability training. This will enable individuals with disabilities to be assisted at the workplace by their personal/executive assistants.

Inclusive Technology Labs

Physical spaces for hands-on training and demonstrations are available for various training programs, partners, and individuals with disabilities. These spaces benefit those needing to learn about adjustments and accommodations, especially during the phase of workplace adjustment assessments in the training program.

How can I join the Alliance?

We are looking for a number of partners in key areas of the Alliance, we have broken down the key types of partners we are attempting to obtain for the Alliance.

Program Adopters

These will be partners who take on employees willing to enroll for training to assist them in obtaining employment in the accessibility sector.

Partners in this pillar would mainly:

  • Fund the training of individuals through the scheme.
  • Provide meaningful employment for successful candidates from the scheme.

Program Contributors

These partners will assist in the program’s development (single or multiple components), which could be the training collateral.

Partners in this pillar would mainly:

  • Provide funding to support the creation of the training or labs.
  • Provide hardware or software to be used in the labs, or equipment for the individuals taking the training.
  • Local facilities for the running of the cohorts.

Ecosystem Contributors

These partners will assist in utilizing their networks to implement the program using their local experience.

Partners in this pillar would mainly:

  • Support the alliance locally to attract talent to the alliance.
  • Connect local stakeholders to the alliance to ensure the alliance delivers effective value locally.

Official Bodies

Educational Institutes will assist with the delivery of training, and potentially its creation, and Ministerial Bodies will assist in alignment to local initiatives.

Partner in this pillar would mainly be governmental or arm length bodies:

  • Support in alignment of Alliance objectives to local support/funding.
  • Advocate for the Alliance’s long-term impact and support in policy/legislative.

International Enablers
