Client Challenge
Pharmaceutical companies face increasing demand for rapid drug development, and pressure to optimize costs across the product lifecycle while maintaining regulatory compliance. Their vast data resources can be an asset in this area, but there’s a problem. The complexity created by stringent quality controls and diverse global production lines can cause siloes that make it hard to convert this data into value.
A more collaborative and integrated approach is needed to reimagine enterprise architectures for pharmaceutical manufacturing and accelerate the adoption of new paradigms that streamline data collection, de-risk digital transformation and provide tangible benefits for manufacturers and regulators.
Recognizing the need for innovation, CPI established the Digital Membership, a first-of-its-kind consortium of around 15 interdisciplinary organizations. The membership spans global pharmaceutical companies, leading tech firms, and academic bodies, providing a community of 140+ industry experts.
To fully leverage the potential of the Digital Membership, CPI needed specialist in digital transformation, technology integration and consulting support to help manage both the digital program as well as collaboration across the consortium.
Solution
As a key partner, Atos provides critical expertise in enterprise architecture and agile methodologies, leading the effort to develop a flexible, agile, full-stack architecture aligned to key industry standards.
Supported by Atos, the Digital Membership has completed its first year. As part of its contribution, the Atos team led the delivery of a TOGAF-led full-stack architecture that enables real-time quality monitoring of the manufacturing process to accelerate batch release.
Atos also implemented the Scrum agile project development framework, ensuring that the architecture evolves in line with its strategic vision. Scrum delivers faster feedback, shorter lead times, and a cohesive, multi-dimensional reference architecture that reflects the inputs of all stakeholders across the membership.
To foster effective participation across the consortium, the Digital Membership combines the Scrum approach with digital collaboration tools, including monday.com for planning and tracking, GitHub for version control, and Archi for architectural modeling.
Business Benefits
As the Digital Membership architecture expands, it will focus on developing customized and commercially viable medicines, optimizing inventory and meeting sustainability targets.
The consortium will soon launch demonstrator projects to showcase real-world results and demonstrate regulatory compliance — to help de-risk and accelerate adoption in pharma companies.
Atos will be there every step of the way, providing the capabilities and expertise to accelerate digital transformation and make an impact in the pharmaceutical industry and beyond.
Why Atos
