Manufacturing

Atos and Red Hat help manufacturers accelerate to Industry 4.0 and beyond
Evolve legacy infrastructure while creating new applications that support changing demands – both today and in the future.

Agility and adaptability at a lower cost is the key to success

Being able to deliver products on time, to specification, and to budget is non-negotiable, but being able to do it better, faster, and more cost effectively than the competition can make the difference between thriving or simply surviving.

Manufacturers need the right technology, people, and processes in place to create a culture of agility, adaptability, and innovation. This means being able to maximize existing investments while also transforming how critical applications are delivered to transform the manufacturing process, ensuring reliability and security are not compromised.

Atos AMOS helps you deliver services to market faster and with greater agility – up to 66% quicker. It enables you to fuel innovation and exceed customer expectation by adapting Industry 4.0 digital services whenever needed.

Our solutions in action

Reduced time-to-market

We helped a global manufacturer with approximately 180 locations move to a 100% private cloud in its physical data centers, supported by a zero-touch development platform powered by Atos AMOS.

This enabled the digital teams across its global manufacturing business to securely access and build cloud-native, container- and analytics-based applications. The result was new apps deployed at speed, using a standardized, container approach and based on a highly secure, multi-tenant solution.

Financial Services and Insurance

Atos and Red Hat transform Digital services for financial services organizations
Evolve complex legacy infrastructure while creating new digital services to meet changing customer demands and compete against more agile challengers.

Speed and agility to launch new Digital services is essential for success

Traditional banking and insurance organizations are having to re-invent the way they do business; to deliver new customer experiences and keep pace with their more agile, digital-native competitors. Regulation, like Open Banking, is changing the way organizations operate; moving the industry from products to services and driving the demand for Open Hybrid Cloud. Being able to innovate with agility and speed will make the difference between them thriving or simply surviving.

This means having the right technology, people, and processes that create agility, adaptability, and the right culture to maximize existing assets as well as transforming legacy service delivery. This all needs to be done against a backdrop of cost reduction, regulatory pressure, and the continued need to provide a highly reliable and secure service.

Atos AMOS helps you deliver services to market faster – up to 66% quicker to compete with disruptors including new non-traditional banking organizations and FinTechs. It enables you to fuel innovation by adapting digital services whenever needed, and focusing on applications that make a real difference to customers.

Creating competitive advantage

For a big global bank, speed was of the essence. They needed to meet their customers’ demands and fend off competition from a new wave of challengers born in the cloud.

Through adoption of AMOS, scaled across their global development teams, the bank was able to deliver new digital services quicker, efficiently, and more flexibly. And through the support of the Atos DevOps Academy, a brand-new culture was fostered, helping staff work more effectively and agile.

Public Sector

Atos and Red Hat transform Digital services for the Public Sector
Evolve legacy infrastructure while creating new digital services to meet changing citizen demands – both today and in the future.

Speed and agility to launch new digital services is essential to deliver the best citizen experience

Public sector organizations are under pressure to transform the services they provide to citizens to create new, cheaper, faster, and more reliable ways for them to engage. With citizens expecting the same level of digital service as they get within the private sector, the public sector must modernize if they are to remain relevant and meet ever changing needs.

This means having in place the right technology, people, and processes to overcome the constraints and inflexibility of legacy applications and legacy thinking, against a backdrop of cost constraints, security, and compliance.

Atos AMOS frees public sector organizations from the constraints of legacy applications and creates a more agile way of working, for example, through the adoption of DevOps. Costs are reduced and efficiencies increased with 35% less Digital staff time per application. Organizations can also respond more quickly to citizen needs, launching new services 3 x faster with developer productivity increasing by 300%.

Seamless communication

UK government departments needed a secure way to communicate seamlessly and securely to better serve citizens. Using Red Hat technology, Atos built Canopy Digital Connect, a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) cloud solution.

Benefits:

  • Pay-per-use solution allows government departments to significantly reduce their capital expenditures
  • Solution offers more targeted services; for example, the new Tell Us Once platform at the Department of Work and Pensions lets citizens register a death one time and inform multiple government agencies at once, instead of individually .

“Choosing Red Hat gave us access to technical expertise. We received advice and support for defining and building the solution as we tried to do something that no one had done before.” Richard Wilson, Head of Portfolio and Strategy for Systems Integration at Atos UK and Ireland

Legacy modernization

Under pressure to innovate and provide better digital services for citizens, a Government department faced a common challenge; they needed to modernize, but so many of their critical services sat on legacy applications. Atos and Red Hat helped them migrate both legacy apps and traditional development methodologies to AMOS, creating an agile DevOps practice without compromising on the security.

Telecoms, Media, and Technology

Atos and Red Hat transform Digital services for Telecom, Media, and Technology
Evolve legacy infrastructure while creating new digital services to meet changing customer demands and compete with disruptors – both today and in the future.

Speed and agility to launch new digital services is essential for competitive advantage

Telecom, Media, and Technology enterprises need to be able to quickly deliver new services to compete with disruptors, most of whom are digitally native and therefore not held back by complex and slow legacy platforms.

With customer experience being high priority, resilience is absolutely key, especially in environments such as media where there is peaky demand and a need for rapid scalability, for example, a large global event such as the Olympics or a release of a high-profile television series or movie. Enterprises need to be able to scale fast and automatically based on traffic/load on the application.

The right technology, people, and processes are needed to deliver new services in a more agile way, with the resilience and scalability demanded by large-scale global enterprises.

Atos AMOS gives developers more freedom to innovate and exceed customer expectation, with a scalable platform that provides high availability, zero-down time, and automated self-healing.

Our solutions in action

Our customer, one of the most successful independent media companies in Europe, needed a more flexible approach to media asset management and this meant creating an entire new landscape of connected agile applications. We recommended a containerized, micro-services based architecture and private cloud to enable DevOps and continuous integration and deployment.

Benefits:

  • Gains in efficiency – reduce time of a project by deploying software in less than a few hours compared to 2-8 weeks
  • Improved time-to-market – deploying new features daily, compared to every 3 months without interrupting service
  • Increased agility – micro-services providing greater flexibility to use technologies to react faster to disruptive changes.

Healthcare and Life Sciences

Atos and Red Hat transform Digital services for Healthcare and Life Sciences
Evolve legacy infrastructure while creating new digital services to meet changing patient demands – both today and in the future.

Speed and agility to launch new digital services is essential to delivering the best patient experiences

The priority for healthcare organizations is delivering excellent patient care but they need to be able to do this quickly, efficiently, and securely to adapt to an ever-changing health landscape. With patients expecting the same level of digital service as they get as consumers, alongside the rapid growth of MedTech, such as IoT connected medical devices, healthcare organizations must modernize if they are to remain relevant and meet ever changing needs.

Atos AMOS creates efficiencies around application development, reducing waste, cutting costs, and increasing security, for example of patient data. By freeing the organization from the constraints of legacy applications and platforms, costs are reduced, and efficiencies increased with 35% less Digital staff time per application. AMOS with Atos digital support services creates an environment for innovation, enabling healthcare providers and life science enterprises to focus on applications that make a real difference to patients.

Resources and Services (Energy, Utilities, Transport, Retail, and Hospitality)

Atos and Red Hat transform Digital services for Resources and Services
Evolve legacy infrastructure while creating new digital services to meet changing customer demands – both today and in the future.

Speed and agility to launch new digital services is essential to success

Being able to quickly make enhancements and changes to meet ever-changing customer demands is critical for business including energy and utility providers, transport, retail, and hospitality. They need to be able to add new digital services quickly and cost efficiently, for example mobile apps to provide updates on power or water outages or provide travel updates to passengers on trains or buses.

With the growth of connected services such as Smart Grids, being able to create a culture of agility and adaptability while transforming legacy ways of working, will help businesses embrace new innovation to deliver key business outcomes such as improved sustainability, customer experience, and cost reduction. For example, real time data gathering.

Atos AMOS gives developers the freedom to innovate and focus on applications that make a difference both to customers and the wider environment, reducing waste and creating efficiencies that can be re-invested in new technology. For example, enterprises typically see an average of $1.29 million in annual benefits per 100 developers.
