Siemens awarded a new major contract to Atos to deliver SIAM services and accelerate Siemens’ journey to digital excellence.
Atos’s Zero Downtime Ambition (ZDA)
Atos’s Zero Downtime Ambition (ZDA) program is designed to reduce production downtime and significantly enhance operational efficiency in industrial environments. The traditional corporate IT support models, when applied in an industrial setting such as a factory, often lead to complexity and production outages due to their incompatibility with operational processes and priorities. Recognizing this issue, Siemens and Atos are tackling this to improve production availability. The goal: redesign traditional IT support models to benefit factories. The name: Zero Downtime Ambition (ZDA).
Project Approach
A fusion team is formed, comprising experts from across the relevant technology and process towers. The team is tasked with collecting and analyzing information about the root cause of outages. Based on the team’s findings, the system architecture, governance and support models are tailored to the needs and requirements of the industrial environment.
The program focuses on four core objectives:
- Mitigate impact of service change: Establish a focused change advisory board, back-out plans, and effective communications to ensure smooth operations and protect the application stack during change processes.
- Optimize IT production landscape: Clearly define interfaces and boundaries within the IT production landscape, ensuring end-to-end responsibilities are understood by all parties, thus enhancing operational clarity and efficiency.
- Refine processes for production continuity: Analyze and optimize processes tailored to specific production needs, fostering cooperation and collaboration to manage change execution, incident handling, and eliminate gaps that may lead to production outages.
- Promote predictive intervention: Embrace automation, anomaly detection, and data-driven monitoring to enable proactive alerting and maintenance, thereby facilitating preemptive actions to avoid production impact.
