Hackathon on Sustainable Laptop Battery Solutions for National Grid

4th and 5th December 2024

On 4th and 5th December 2024, Atos brought together key players including National Grid, National Energy System Operator, Microsoft, Nexthink, Dell Technologies, and Circular Computing to co-create an innovative solution for sustainable laptop battery usage.

The challenge posed was: How can we encourage laptop users across the UK to optimise their battery usage to help reduce demand on the electricity grid during peak times of high demand and carbon-intensive energy production?

Over two days, this dynamic group generated thought-provoking ideas, with a clear commitment from senior executives to drive progress. The next step will be advancing these insights through the establishment of a Sustainability Advisory Board.
