Dear community members,

Welcome to the third edition of our Digital Security Magazine. As always, we would like to thank our contributors, editorial Board, production team, and everyone who makes the magazine possible. We remain committed to bringing to you key insights into cybersecurity and digital technology.

Cybersecurity is in today in the mainstream organizational conversation and is considered as a major challenge to all organizations. One of the key challenges of the cyber world is the vast amount of information gathered that requires our attention to ensure the proper handling of the risk posture in the organization. In recent years, we have seen the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) into security to help meet this challenge.

As the attack surface expands due to the proliferation of Internet of things (IoT) devices and cloud systems, we are beginning to understand the value of big data and the vital intelligence that organizations have collected by securing thousands — if not millions — of endpoints. This complexity is one of the main reasons why AI and ML have become a fundamental piece in the puzzle of securing any organization.

In this edition, we will feature several articles that shed some light on the advancement, concerns and thinking behind AI and ML. We will try to demonstrate how it can be combined with digital security to better safeguard our environments. Our contributors have touched on a range of subjects including the ethical concerns related to the use of AI systems and the Atos approach to new technologies. We have also included articles that demonstrate real use cases on attack detection using AI, the responsibilities use of AI as we define it at Atos, and the cybersecurity risks when deploying an AI model in production. Furthermore, we will provide a look at how new AI technologies are using personal data and the impact on compliance with data protection law, as well as the role of big data technology to enable AI efficiency.

We have also invited one of our partners, Cybereason, to share its view on this topic. You will be able to read their vision of how AI can change information security, and how AI has created a shift in the way we view and respond to security.

Using artificial intelligence is a significant opportunity, and as security professionals it is our responsibility to ensure that this opportunity is well protected and used ethically and wisely.

We hope you will enjoy the read and the digital security journey ahead with us.

Best regards,

Eyal Asila
