Next-Generation Intelligent Network:
A1 Telekom Austria Group chooses Atos solution for rollout in Central and Eastern Europe

Vienna, 3 November 2020

Atos, a global leader in digital transformation, has been selected by the A1 Telekom Austria Group, a leading provider of digital services and communication solutions in the CEE region to modernise, standardise and implement a centralised Mobile IN (Intelligent Network) Service Platform. Atos will implement this central harmonised platform across various A1 subsidiaries, which currently use a range of different platforms and will manage rollout in Austria, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia.

6,562 million cell phone minutes and 603 petabytes of mobile data were consumed in Austria in the first quarter of this year alone – the trend in using our mobile phones for almost everything we do continues to rise. This platform will ensure the optimal use of services, such as VoLTE (Voice over LTE), Wifi Calling and value-added services such as VPN (Virtual Private Network), Roaming, Multiring, or Centrex, the simulation of a private telephone system, and will also ensure that A1 is well equipped for future technologies. Rather than a physical network, this central platform will manage the related services, such as the automatic billing of roaming charges or the delivery of VoLTE services for the customers of A1.

Kurt Schlager, Head of Network Evolution, A1 Telekom Austria Group: “We are constantly developing new services to address the needs of our clients. Thanks to Atos’ new solution, we have a technical base that allows us to implement additional services quickly and easily, so that our customers can benefit from them quickly and easily”.

Thomas Eibl, Client Executive, Atos, adds: “A well-developed telecommunications infrastructure and the uninterrupted availability of relevant services form the most important basis for our modern society and the digitalization of our economy. We are therefore proud to be able to support A1 in offering the best service to its customers and to further expand its portfolio in the future”.

With more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunication industry, more than 80 telecom customers and its own Competence Center in Spain, where the corresponding products are developed, as well as its subsidiaries in the CEE region, Atos is the ideal partner for the implementation of this mammoth project. Under the seven-year contract, Atos is not only responsible for the transnational rollout, but also for maintenance and support of the system.
