What is Atos Label Print Cockpit?
The Label Print Cockpit (LPC) is a SAP add-on solution created by Atos for the immediate, quick and error-free creation of labels. Labels are required for multiple purposes and requirements, from customers (product labels), internal stakeholders(logistic labels) or regulatory bodies (dangerous goods labels, product safety labels).
The solution is complemented by software components from label specialist EB-Soft. While Atos focuses on SAP system integration, EB-Soft brings years of experience in label design, rendering and device control. This enables a best-of-breed solution for label printing that is not only efficient but also high-quality and seamlessly integrates into operational processes.
Our Capabilities
The LPC contains functions related to data and business rules to include label and printer determination, online data extraction and logging. When a user or automated process in a SAP system requests a label to be printed, the LPC collects that data and sends it to an external LPC component as shown in the diagram below. The data is converted into a Microsoft Windows printer queue item and is sent to the printer or other output devices. The external LPC component performs data conversion independent of business logic or data storage.
The customized rules in the LPC defines the access to SAP data where users can plug in their own code. In addition, several features including conditional data extraction, label variants, and the “printer independence” function (which ensures that the label is printed identically on multiple printers).
These customized rules ensure the number of labels are kept low and promotes simpler maintainability. Furthermore, printer-specific layouts are not required. With the flexibility offered in this solution, it ensures a quick adaptation to changing requirements, such as branding or legislation changes that require label updates.
