Atos develops software robot for Peneder
Vienna, 28th June 2021 – Atos has been commissioned by Peneder, the expert in industrial and commercial smart buildings and fire protection, to provide Robotic Process Automation (RPA) services. The long-established Austrian company recently signed a corresponding framework agreement for a period of six years with Atos, global leader in digital transformation. The aim is to automate business processes involving large volumes of data as well as repeatable routine processes. The software robot developed by Atos checks all data of trading partners required for the ERP system, such as company numbers, tax numbers or addresses, for completeness. Missing information is researched independently by the software robot and then transferred to the system.
With the help of Robotic Process Automation, manual and thus error-prone as well as repetitive activities are automated. The technology is based on optical character recognition (OCR) or machine learning, among other things. The central advantage that Peneder gains from the use of software robots is that the company’s employees are relieved and can thus concentrate on value-adding activities as well as on their professional development within the framework of the Peneder Future Program. In addition, the automated processing of such routine tasks leads to efficiency gains, as they are completed significantly faster and in reliable compliance with standards and regulations.
As a first step, Atos is developing a “functional prototype” using UiPath’s RPA platform, which is already used by more than 65 percent of Fortune 500 companies and eight of Fortune 10 companies. This is intended to evaluate the use and concrete benefits of RPA at Peneder on the basis of an exemplary process. Specifically, this is a process in the ERP system that still has system breaks and involves manual steps. Subsequently, other company processes, for example in the areas of marketing, logistics or accounting, will be analyzed and automated in the coming months and years. The interaction of a wide range of tools and functions will also be taken into account.
