State Government of South Australia

Managed platform services

Industry: Central Government
Country: Australia

“We are proud to be selected as a strategic partner for the South Australian Government’s digital transformation.” said Mike Green, Managing Director of Atos in Australia. “We believe that hyperscale Cloud services can make a different kind of public service possible. Atos has developed a reputation within the Government marketplace in Australia following its success with the Western Australian Government. We are excited to transfer that knowledge, experience and deep insights to embark on this journey towards a safe and citizen-centric future in South Australia.”

State Government of South Australia

State Government of South Australia and Atos enter into a strategic partnership to provide Managed Platform Services (MPS) to the South Australian Government under a 3-year Heads Agreement. The Managed Platform Services panel is a Whole of Government Agreement that covers the South Australian government’s data processing and storage requirements across multiple platforms and configurations (physical, virtual and cloud, managed and unmanaged hosting, government and vendor-owned servers).

The challenge

The current MPS panel is adding modern cloud technologies in the scope, like hyperscale cloud server management.

Managed platform Services Panel is a Whole of Government Agreement which incorporates South Australia State agency requirements for data processing and storage across various platforms and configurations (physical, virtual and cloud, managed and un-managed hosting, State-owned and Supplier-owned servers).

Atos has been selected as one of the strategic partners to deliver Managed Platform Services (MPS) for the South Australian Government under a 3-year Heads Agreement. The Managed Platform Services (MPS) aims to deliver data processing and storage as well as hyperscale Cloud services management.

The current MPS Panel is replacing two previous panels:

  • DCSS – distributed computer server services
  • HSP – hosting services panel

The solution

Atos is expected to deliver Managed Platform Services which includes data security and Cloud migration.

The panel consists of 4 categories:

  • SSM – state server management
  • HSM – hosted server management
  • UCHS – un-managed colocation hosted services
  • HCM – hyperscale cloud management

Business benefit

The State Agencies have a list of prequalified suppliers to invite for the second procurement processes they will conduct for the MPS services.

The new contract agreement combines Government agencies’ requirements for data processing and storage across various platforms and configurations (physical and cloud, managed and unmanaged hosting, State-owned and supplier-owned servers) into one single contractual arrangement. It will allow the State of South Australia to access, store and process data in a way that is safe and reliable.
