“Siemens and Atos demonstrate importance of their Global Alliance during visit by German Chancellor and French President to French-German Digital Conference on 27th October, 2015 in Paris”

Franco-German business collaboration accelerating digital transformation

At the French-German Digital Conference, today, in Paris, Atos and Siemens reiterated the importance of their global strategic alliance. During a visit to the conference by Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany, and François Hollande, President of the French Republic, Atos and Siemens presented digital solutions that they have developed together for digital remote service, Internet of Things and Cyber Security. These are all necessary for Industry 4.0 – helping customers to transform their business through the use of digital technologies.

Commenting during the conference, Thierry Breton, Chairman and CEO of Atos said: “Today’s conference underlines the importance of Franco-German business collaboration in the digital age. Our Alliance with Siemens was born five years ago with a clear ambition – from Day one – to create a European champion of the Digital era. Every day, our 100,000 engineers cooperate with Siemens businesses in advanced data analytics, cyber security, cloud computing services and Internet of things, and demonstrate the state-of-the-art capabilities that such an exceptional French-German Alliance can create and that we can bring to our markets and clients.”

According to Christophe de Maistre, CEO of Siemens France : “The visit paid by Chancellor Merkel and President Hollande to our joint Atos-Siemens booth pays tribute to the role model played by our alliance in terms of digital transformation of the German and French economies.”

Atos and Siemens were two of a few companies invited to showcase their solutions at the conference, which was attended by 400 Franco-German companies. The theme of the conference was “Accelerating the digital transformation of our economies” and covered three topics. Firstly, the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry; secondly, connections between French and German start up ecosystems and their relations with big companies and thirdly how France and Germany contribute to European digital strategy.

In 2011, Atos and Siemens formed a strategic alliance, the largest such relationship ever between a global engineering company and a global IT provider between a French and a German company. Supported by a joint investment fund of €150 million, the alliance focuses on innovative solution areas, such as advanced data analytics, cyber security and device connectivity.

The partnership has been beneficial for both Companies and their clients. Together, they now provide joint services to 130 major customers worldwide in manufacturing, transportation and energy & utilities and their technology developments have been recognized by industry experts. For example, Atos was recently named a Visionary in Business Analytics Services by Gartner thanks in a large part to the pre-configured analytics platform developed by the two companies. The platform can be reused for a range of data analytic services, which means the most common proofs of concepts can be developed within a week and business value is typically proven within 4-6 weeks.
