“Atos and EMC launch “Canopy Media Cloud” to enable the cloud media shift”
Paris, Amsterdam, 12 September 2013
”Canopy Media Cloud” to be demonstrated at IBC
Canopy, an Atos company working in partnership with two of the biggest leaders in IT, EMC and VMware, has created a secure, single-source cloud and workflow platform. The new solution ”Canopy Media Cloud” offers a suite of products supporting entire workflows from ingestion to content monetization for Multi-Screen new media content delivery. This will help customers to create business and IT architectures that enable substantial new revenue streams and can increase Media Organizations competitive advantage. A demonstration of this new service will be shown during IBC, Amsterdam RAI Convention Centre 12 – 17 September at the EMC booth in Hall 7, booth number: 7.H10.
The explosive growth of digital asset creation, consumption and distribution has created new challenges and opportunities for the Media and Entertainment industry. Also rapidly changing is audience demand and the ability to consume content - anytime, anywhere, and on any device. This transition from the traditional broadcast relationship of ‘One-to-many' to the personalized multiplatform content delivery relationship of ‘many-to-one' or ‘knowing me' requires media organizations to focus not only on their brand identity and the creation and provisioning of great content, but now on the audience behaviors as well'.
The business agility challenge in this ‘New Media' world is to harness the power of digital media by building solutions that increase its use and effectiveness while simultaneously minimizing the impact on Broadcast operations and internal IT departments. Cloud based services take an industrialized approach with technology yet facilitating a personalized experience to enable media organizations to add dynamic scalability to their over-stretched current infrastructure environments. This is crucial especially when considering the ever-growing volumes of data and media asset storage requirements. This is why Canopy has created media specific ‘Storage-on-Demand' capabilities delivered through a ‘Cloud based utility model' where provisioning, metering and control are central to the needs of all modern media businesses.
First on the market – Media Cloud for Enterprises
Atos and EMC– utilizing the Canopy environment to develop industry specific Cloud Services - offer Media and Entertainment organizations to consume a broad suite of applications with enterprise-level, quality, availability and security. This enables Media and Entertainment organizations to:
- Consolidate, harmonize, rationalize IT landscape to deliver performance and cost improvements
- Allow rapid and dynamic change when launching new services
- Gain deeper understanding of customer preferences and behaviors
- Grow digital revenue streams
- Improve the audience experience and increase audience engagements in a highly competitive market.
Bruno Fabre, Executive Vice President Telecom Media & Utilities at Atos: “Atos is pleased to demonstrate at IBC yet another great value proposition derived from our Enhanced Alliance with EMC and VMware. Together with Canopy we have created a unique cloud-based service offering which enables Media organizations to develop, manage, host and monitor a suite of multiplatform media applications, at enterprise-level quality and security. This initiative offers Media organizations the possibility to rationalize complex technology estates and partner ecosystems while producing ever greater content and audience interaction.”
Sam Grocott, VP Marketing for the Isilon Division at EMC said: “The Media and Entertainment market has gone through major changes. What use to be broadcasters pushing content out to viewers is now 100's of millions of viewers each pulling down their own mix of content. This viewer driven model has meant that M&E organizations have to create, manage, and distribute their assets differently. The Canopy Media Cloud services offering is a great solution for M&E organizations looking for simple scalable just–in-time storage or alternatively, organizations looking for an all-in-one workflow provider in the cloud. We are excited to be working with Atos and look forward to a great IBC”.
