“Atos supports Darty with the outsourcing and development of its IT infrastructure”

Paris, 14 May 2013

on-demand multi-technology IT, in line with the brand's development strategy.

Atos, an international information technology services company, has announced that it has been awarded a five-year IT outsourcing contract by Darty, one of Europe's largest electrical retailers.

Darty France, a member of Darty PLC Group, sought to combine its IT hosting, operations and service continuity activities in a single service provider. The leader in the household appliances market has selected Atos to develop and rationalise its multi-technology IT infrastructure - Mainframe, AS400, Open and AIX - to achieve a perfect fit with its business strategy and to ensure maximum quality of service on a day-to-day basis.

"By entrusting our IT infrastructure to a partner such as Atos, we are pursuing two major business objectives", remarks Patrick Terrier, Darty SVP IT & Logistics. "Firstly, we wish to have powerful on-demand IT capability which can adapt to the peaks and variations of business activity in our stores. Additionally, we want to ensure 24/7 availability of our Darty.com web shop, an essential element of our commercial strategy. The type of contract proposed by Atos perfectly addresses the variability of our needs in terms of performance and ensures that we have more direct feedback on changes in our IT infrastructure costs".

Following completion of a transitional phase in July 2012, Atos has managed the end-of-year period perfectly, ensuring far-reaching availability of applications and providing the performance level needed to successfully cope with peak loads. The transformation to an on-demand model has been implemented without any negative impact on Darty users. With infrastructure hosting based on a strong server virtualization component, Atos, from its various data centres, supplies Darty with resources and powerful, adaptable, on-demand IT capability, in addition to offering commitments concerning IT systems availability and the responsiveness of operations teams.

"Among a very strong competition, Atos has convinced Darty because of its industrial expertise, which covers all of Darty's technologies, and its experience in the retail field, proven by the numerous retailers which depend on Atos outsourcing services. Atos' business expertise was the basis of an innovative proposal on architecture which is ideally suited to Darty's needs," said Laurent Kocher, CEO of Atos in France.
