“Atos wins a major contract with Airbus to develop its engineering assets ”
Paris, 30 September 2013
This contract with Atos will enable Airbus to leverage its information assets and will facilitate collaboration between its 59,000 employees, its customers and suppliers, worldwide
Atos, an international IT services company, announces the signing of a new contract with Airbus. The aircraft manufacturer, whose success lies in its capacity for innovation, has chosen Atos to develop, maintain and transform almost all of its Enterprise Content Management system 1. This five-year contract will be implemented by Atos teams in Toulouse, Hamburg, Madrid, Seville and Pune.
The design and manufacture of an aircraft involves several years of collaboration between teams of people from a variety of companies, professions and nationalities that create, research, share and manage document retention for a significant volume of information. This kind of distribution of creative processes requires perfect organisation and synchronisation of knowledge.
In order to reach a new level of efficiency for its business processes and IT solutions, Airbus has decided to transform and standardise its Enterprise Content Management applications in a federated system working around a rationalised infrastructure. This convergence project will enable it to optimize content value by encouraging sharing and collaboration and by reducing costs as a result of simplified support and maintenance. Airbus has chosen Atos to carry out this ambitious project.
Jean-Marie Simon, CEO Atos France says: “We are extremely proud to have been chosen, from a number of competitors, as Airbus' global partner to transform the management of its information assets. Atos, with its best-of-breed Enterprise Content Management solutions, will enable the aircraft manufacturer to improve its productivity and to accelerate innovation and growth while simultaneously bringing down costs. With its proven experience in the aeronautics industry and its track record in Enterprise Content Management, Atos will bring its capacity to deploy an efficient industrial model and its vision of ‘future Enterprise Content Management' observing the regulatory constraints.”
The contract between Airbus and Atos involves a very significant component of the aircraft manufacturer's information system, which is core to a large number of key internal and external business processes (customers and suppliers). The management of business needs and issues, the consolidation of the requirements of a wide range of users and the technical complexity associated with diverse content management components, are the main challenges that Atos must confront.
