Launch of Digital Content Marketplace – increasing the value of information

Atos Origin, an international IT services company, today announced, at its 4th Atos Origin innovation press conference that it will work with Oracle in the area of digital content management. The goal is to increase the value of information through solutions that will enable the long term preservation and easy access of information that can be considered part of the world's knowledge-base; from history to culture and technological development.

The Digital Content Marketplace is the first interactive knowledge space that combines capture, access, preservation and use of social business solutions to enhance information for the long-term. It has been designed and developed by Atos Origin using Oracle technology. The initial go to market plan is focused on digital libraries following the successful joint delivery an information-management-system for the National Library of France to address long-term availability of more than one billion documents.

Francois Gruau, Senior Vice President in Innovation and Partnerships at Atos Origin said: “Working with Oracle, we believe that we , as market leaders, are anticipating how the knowledge-based economy can assist the global economic recovery. We target the exciting and evolving market of social business solutions, that is transforming how we keep, access and produce information. Today, we are focussed on supporting the emergence of digital libraries. People will continue to use public and private libraries as an interactive knowledge space while assuming everything is on the web. We believe that very soon we will be using the same technology to enable government, healthcare and private organisations around the world to better manage the overload of information, in order to provide new services, such as remote patient monitoring and e-government services.”

Stein Surlein, Senior Vice President Alliances & Channels, Oracle EMEA said:
“It's evident that businesses today need a tool to help them stay on top of the latest information and make fast business decisions. This innovative tool from Atos utilizes storage, archiving and server products from Oracle, including Oracle Exadata, which brings additional performance benefits for end customers.”

Digital Content Marketplace can capture and preserve information in all formats including printed documents, digital information, photos, video, twitter and facebook feeds. It archives the information in such a way that a search request quickly returns all relevant information from thousands of different sources to provide the user with everything they need on the subject in an easy to view format.

Furthermore, the solution enables the user to edit and elaborate on the content and then share with their own community. All content is stored in compliance with digital rights management and in way that it can always be accessed, regardless of changes in technology.

The relationship brings together two leaders who are currently defining this rapidly maturing market, estimated to be worth more than $1 billion over a 10 – 20 year timeframe. Both organisations have a successful long-term track record in this field. Atos Origin's brings its global expertise in integration and design while Oracle brings its integrated technologies.
