“City & Guilds choose Atos Origin for application hosting and support”
London, 2 February 2009
Improving services for learners worldwide while reducing costs and carbon emissions
Atos Origin, an international IT services company, today announced that it has won a five year contract worth £13.5 million with City and Guilds, the leading authority in vocational education - in the UK and internationally. The new contract with Atos Origin forms part of City & Guilds' plans for international expansion.
Atos Origin takes over management and hosting of all IT applications. This includes implementing a new IT architecture to support all SAP systems, as well as migrating all legacy applications to a virtual environment. Virtualisation will reduce the number of servers from five to one, thereby reducing power consumption and carbon emissions.
‘The work we will be doing with Atos Origin is integral to strategic plans for growth and our ambitions to become even more responsive to our customers – here and internationally,' said Simon Morioka, Group Director of IT at City & Guilds. ‘We believe that Atos Origin, with its proven expertise in delivering SAP solutions and its ability to deliver on time and to budget is the right company to help us ensure that we have the technology we need to achieve this transformation.'
‘This is an important new win for Atos Origin with one of our leading partners, SAP,' said Paul Bray at Atos Origin. ‘Through our SAP Centres of Expertise and experience in delivering and hosting SAP solutions, we will support City & Guilds through their transformation to ensure that their IT systems meet their needs today and tomorrow.'
