“Beijing 2008 Olympic Games: Atos Origin Supports Teddy Riner, Gold Medalist at the 2007 European and World Championships”

Paris, July 2 2008

Atos Origin, an international Information Technology services provider and the Worldwide IT Partner for the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, today announced its support for Teddy Riner, France's young judo star, at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. The partnership reflects the values that Atos Origin shares with athletes, notably respect for commitments, friendliness and team spirit. Through this new partnership, Atos Origin involves Teddy in its initiatives that enable its clients and employees to live the Olympic experience to the fullest.

In 2007, Teddy Riner achieved an incredible feat, winning back-to-back gold medals at the European and World Judo Championships and becoming the youngest men's world champion ever in the heavyweight category (+100 kg). Currently in competition for the Olympic title in the same category, Teddy is focusing his efforts on another win.

With the whole world watching, Atos Origin must deliver a flawless performance during the 17 days of competition,” said Teddy Riner. “I also have a very clear objective, which is to come back from Beijing with a medal. Like Atos Origin's Olympic team, which has been fully operational in the Chinese capital since 2004, I'm training intensely to achieve that goal. I'm pleased to have received Atos Origin's support and to be part of the program that involves its employees and clients in the Olympic Games, a truly outstanding event.

The Atos Origin contract with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is the largest sports-related IT contract. As the Worldwide IT Partner for the Olympic Games, Atos Origin designs, builds and operates the vast IT system for the Olympic Games and manages a consortium of technology partners. Atos Origin provides a complex mix of technologies, people, process and know-how. This challenge mobilises our experts 4 years before the opening ceremony. It is then essential to anticipate and test everything in advance : on 8 August 2008, everything must be operational in real time.

There is a striking similarity between the preparation and deployment of our exceptional project and Teddy Riner, whose hours and hours of training over the years are all focused on a single day,” said Didier Zeitoun, Chief Executive Officer of Atos Origin in France. “Teddy is the youngest world champion ever in the heavyweight category. He embodies the values of talent, success and continuous improvement that we defend every day in our projects—proof that Atos Origin's commitment to the Olympic Games involves more than just technology.”
