“Atos Origin and ISS Logistique & Production awarded Innovation Trophy at the International Transport & Logistics Week”

Paris, 9 April 2008

Atos Origin and ISS Logistique & Production have been awarded best innovation trophy in the category “logistics Information System” for their jointly developed solution “Logistics Explorer” at the International Transport & Logistics week in Paris (SITL 2008). This innovative solution directly meets the needs of analysing and optimising the performance of internal logistics of industrial sites (warehouses, production plants...). Accessible via Internet (Web 2.0) “Logistic Explorer™” is the number 1 solution for determining by satellite, in real time, the position of internal logistic flows.

This winning solution, jointly developed by Atos Origin and ISS Logistique & Production, in cooperation with Atos Origin's Innovation direction, is operated in SaaS (software as a service) mode by Atos Worldline, a subsidiary of Atos Origin.
“Logistics Explorer™” is a tool that tracks and optimises equipment and human resources allocated to handling in warehouses and production plants. It is a significant development for meeting the competitiveness needs of production plants, by providing visibility and analysis support.

The upward flow of data is performed in MtoM (Machine to Machine) mode through GPRS technology thanks to a simple box installed on the handling equipment. The wide-ranging functions and ergonomics of Web 2.0 give an intuitive, user-friendly interface for in-house logistics managers. The access is highly secured. The non-intrusive nature of the solution allows for rapid deployment in industrial sites. Easy to implement, it does not require any changes to the warehouse's infrastructure, or to the client's Information System (IS).

This solution is an essential tool for improving the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) of handling equipment and safety of its use in production facilities. The upward flow of handling equipment data then enriches the client's IS management tools, such as WMS (Warehouse Management Systems) and MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) to further increase their performance.

It is quite rare to find this type of solution designed to manage and optimise internal logistic flows and movements of forklift truck operators,” explained Denis Choumert, Purchasing & Logistics Director, France – Belgium, Italcementi Group, member of the jury and chairman of AUTF (Association of Users and Freight Transport). “It is a real support to operations that functions as a comprehensive system, by integrating shipped equipment and software solutions which enable the management and analysis of flows and reporting of technical handling equipment data. It is truly innovative and seriously interesting in a context of generalisation of just-in-time supply processes and increasing complexity of supply logistics, which tend to increase operating constraints.
