“Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science outsources IT services to Atos Origin”

Agreement with a contract value of EUR 45 million and will run for four years

The Ministry of Education, Culture and Science in the Netherlands has signed an agreement with Atos Origin for the outsourcing of its workplace services. The contract is the result of the Ministry's strategy to contract the IT services of their workplaces by the process of a European tender, as it also does for the development and supply of applications which include services such as telecommunications, asset management software and printing. The agreement will run for four years, with an option to prolong to 7 years, and represents a value of EUR 45 million. Atos Origin will be responsible for the management of more than 3,700 work stations.

Besides the core departments, the agreement applies to the Education Inspectorate, the State Inspectorate for Cultural Heritage, the Netherlands Institute for Cultural Heritage (ICN), the State Archives Department, the Central Funding of Institutions Agency (CFI) - an executive agency of the Ministry - and the National Service for Archaeology, Cultural Landscape and Built Heritage (RACM). With this agreement the department aims to tap into the latest developments areas of collaboration and unified communications. The objective is to achieve a better exchange of knowledge and information within the Ministry and between organisations related to the Ministry. The Government pursues a policy of open standards and the use of Open Source software. The solution by Atos Origin is based on Atos™ Workplace Solutions. These are solutions for the workplace built to measure from standardised services. The focus here is on the rationalisation and optimisation of the workplace infrastructure, in which employees are supported by the correct work station facilities.
