CB 5.2 Certification for the complete range of Atos Worldline Banksys terminals

Atos Worldline, an Atos Origin Company specialised in payment services, CRM and eServices, today announces that it has obtained French CB 5.2 certification for its complete range of Banksys electronic payment terminals. The recent certification of the XENTA and XENTISSIMO terminals follows that of the XENTEO terminal in July 2007.

CB 5.2 certification was granted for the French configurations of the three terminals of the Atos Worldline Banksys range. The XENTA terminal is a countertop payment terminal equipped with an Ethernet port and a PSTN port, with an optional interface to connect to the GSM/GPRS network, giving it the flexibility required to meet all in-store electronic payment needs. The portable XENTISSIMO terminal also has a GSM/GPRS interface, which provides fast, secure transmission of mobile transactions. The XENTEO unattended payment terminal already obtained CB 5.2 certification in July 2007.

The French “Groupement des Cartes Bancaires” (CB) defines the standards and technical specifications for electronic payment terminals on the French market. The CB 5 version 2 standard (CB 5.2) includes the acceptance of chip cards using the international EMV standard. CB approval guarantees a level of quality and security. All Banksys terminals conform to the most stringent international security standards, including PCI PED and EMV.

“This certification opens the way to marketing our ultra-secure solutions on the significant French market. The success of the Banksys terminals throughout Europe shows that our solutions definitely have a prime position to capture on this market”, explains Vincent Roland, Executive Vice-President of Atos Worldline.

To provide a complete solution for the retail sector, Banksys terminals are also in the process of receiving CB certification in combination with the Atos Worldline SoftPOS solution. The first CB certification for the XENTA-SoftPOS combination was obtained in February 2008. SoftPOS, a payment solution for multi-terminal (fixed and mobile) environments, is based on a client-server and multi-channel architecture to centrally manage authorisation and remote data collection streams linked at different points of sale.
