Atos Origin’s Nomination of Malaysia for Award Underpins Confidence in Country As Regional Outsourcing Hub

Malaysia, nominated by Atos Origin, won the "Off-Shore Destination of the Year" category of the United Kingdom National Outsourcing Association (NOA) Awards. The award recognizes Malaysia's excellent combination of high quality and skilled workforce, state-of-the-art IT infrastructure and effective collaboration between government and industry to deliver a powerful value proposition to the global off-shoring market.

The awards were announced by the National Outsourcing Association on 12 October 2006 at a glittering ceremony which was attended by more than 350 professionals from the UK's outsourcing industry.

The NOA is Europe's first Association for the outsourcing industry. Its objective is to leverage effective outsourcing by promoting best practice, service and innovation in the application and development of outsourcing. The NOA Awards recognise and reward innovation and achievement by suppliers, users and integrated teams within the outsourcing industry. The winners represent the length and breadth of the outsourcing industry, from banking to telecoms, small companies to large, individuals and major corporations.

"Atos Origin has been operating in Malaysia for more than 18 years," said Mr Siow Wee Loong, Atos Origin Malaysia's Managing Director. "We appreciate very much the excellent infrastructure, pro-business policies, incentives and all round support provided by the Malaysian government. It is our honour and privilege to nominate Malaysia as the Off-Shore Destination of the Year.

"Our Global IT Service and Competency Centres in Cyberjaya and Technology Park support Atos Origin's customers throughout the Asia Pacific and other parts of the world, offering single point of contact for remote end-user support, network and server monitoring and management," added Mr Siow. "Since opening in July 2005, staff strength in our Centres had tripled, annual revenue grew 30 per cent over 2004 and according to a Gartner report, Atos Origin was ranked amongst the top 10 IT services companies in Malaysia in 2005.

"Malaysia's well-developed infrastructure, attractive business environment and strong government support makes it a rising alternative to India and China as an outsourcing hub," said Mr Martyn Hart, Chairman of National Outsourcing Association. "Malaysia is fast becoming an important hub for call centres, data centres, technical support centres, back office operations and business process outsourcing."

"This year, the NOA created a new category ‘Destination of the Year' in recognition of the number and quality of off-shoring destinations available throughout the world," added Mr Hart. "Malaysia won because of the dedication of government and industry to creating and promoting the ideal climate for off-shore outsourcing."
