“Patrick Adiba heading Major Events and Olympic Games at Atos Origin”
France, 29th March 2005
Atos Origin, the international IT services company and Worldwide IT Partner for the Olympic Games, has announced the appointment of Patrick Adiba as Executive Vice President, Olympic Games and Major Events. Patrick Adiba was previously Vice President, General Manager, Olympic Games and Major Events, and was part of the team that designed and implemented the IT systems for the ATHENS 2004 Games and led the preparation of the next Torino 2006 and Beijing 2008 Games.
Since 1989, the Atos Origin Major Events unit is exclusively dedicated to the provision of IT solutions and services to large-scale events and international bodies, carrying its experiences and know-how from one event to another. The business unit aims to share its experience with sporting and non-sporting event organizers, and link this to specialist consulting, project management, systems integration, systems management, and the provision of software solutions.
Thanks to a distinguished 18-year IT experience, Patrick Adiba plays a lead role in directing the company's Olympic Games project, the world's largest sports-related IT contract, providing systems integration, project management and applications software for Olympic Games through 2012 but also other major events (FIFA World Cup in 2002; the All Africa Games, Nigeria in 2003; and Lisbon's Expo in 1998).
Patrick Adiba was previously Vice President Human Resources for SchlumbergerSema, joining Atos Origin when it acquired SchlumbergerSema from Schlumberger in January 2004. For four years before that, he was Vice President and General Manager for SchlumbergerSema's Latin America region, where his achievements included masterminding the acquisition and integration of a smart card company in Brazil and designing plans for the migration of Visa and MasterCard to smart cards, also in Brazil.
Before moving to South America in 1999, Patrick Adiba was Vice President and General Manager of Schlumberger Test & Transactions eCity division, in charge of smart card and mobility solutions such as parking and transport for cities including New York, Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, Rome, Hong Kong, Manchester, Beijing and Kuala Lumpur.
Patrick Adiba replaces Jean Chevallier, with whom he worked closely throughout the ATHENS 2004 Olympic Games. Chevallier returns to Schlumberger after he was seconded to Atos Origin for the period after the acquisition.
Says Patrick Adiba: “Major events are a strategic focus for Atos Origin. We have years of expertise in this area for sport or non sport related events. The projects we work on, particularly the Olympic Games, are so high profile and visible that making a mistake, or finishing late, is just not an option. We have a strong track record in delivering results on time and within budget as during the recent Athens Olympic Games. A lot of the technology and processes developed for Major Events are also applied to other Major projects of Atos Origin that requires testing, fast track deployment, , Information Security and Real time risk Management , complex partnership and knowledge management.”
