“Atos Origin partners with Inkra Networks for virtualised and optimized security architectures”

France, 22 March 2005

Atos Origin, one of the world's largest IT services companies, has just formed a partnership with Inkra Networks in France.

Under the agreement, Atos Origin will integrate Inkra's market-leading Virtual Service Switch technology into its portfolio. This reinforces Atos Origin's capacity to design and deliver bespoke customer network and security solutions that are automated, highly adaptive, and provide radical economic and manageability improvements.

Inkra's Virtual Service Switch integrates and virtualises critical networking and security services—such as firewall, load balancing, intrusion detection and prevention (IDP), virtual private networking (VPN), and more—onto a single, centrally managed platform. The technology has been deployed today in leading service provider, enterprise, and government data centres worldwide.

The partnership is an important move for Atos Origin that will allow it to target the rapidly growing market demand for network virtualisation. It selected Inkra, the leading global vendor, after an intensive commercial and technical validation process.

Training of Atos Origin's technology and support staff has been completed and the two companies have already started working together on their first joint customer projects.

“Evolution in the data centre is being driven by consolidation and virtualisation,” said Jean-Claude Hujeux, Atos Origin's Solution Manager for Secured IT Infrastructures. “Network virtualisation delivers substantial cost savings and significantly reduces complexity. It has a wide range of applications from enabling businesses to deploy security through-out their network as part of defence-in-depth strategy, to allowing service providers and enterprises to move to on-demand network services provisioning. It's an exciting technology and we're extremely pleased to be working with Inkra.”

“Atos Origin is a premier-league IT services company,” said Sébastien Bonnotte, Country Manager at Inkra Networks. “It has in-depth expertise in networking and security, a proven ability to delivery top-quality solutions, a great understanding of customers' needs and a global presence – which makes it the ideal partner. We're looking forward to a long and highly successful relationship.”
