“Atos Origin announces sponsorship of world’s number one pentathlete”

London - 15 June, 2004

Atos Origin, a leading international IT services company that has primary responsibility for Information Technology for the Olympic Games, today announced its sponsorship of the world's number one ranked women's Modern Pentathlete, Georgina Harland, 26. Georgina was today selected by Team GB to compete at the ATHENS 2004 Olympic Games.

The Modern Pentathlon is a multi-discipline sport consisting of five events that take place over one-day of competition: Air Pistol Shooting; Fencing; Swimming; Show Jumping and Running.

As the world's number one Georgina has already achieved the international qualification for the Olympic Games by winning the Modern Pentathlon European Championships last August. In her short career to date she has achieved 20 gold medals, 8 silver medals and 4 bronze medals. These have included gold medals in the 2003 World Cup Final, World Championships Team Final, 2003 European Championships, British National Championships, Steffl Cup and Hungarian Indoor Championships.
